Work Session - 1/28/09

After Bill Deptowicz marked up the mounting bracket for the air compressor George Woodling cut and deburred the bracket of sharp edges. Ted Nyland and Ken Brooks continued with the building of switches.
With the rail gauges in place, Ken drives in the screws to fasten the rail down under Ted's watchful eye. Bill drilled and mounted the plate to the existing bracket that held the old air compressor.
Joe Banzer, George Woodling, Dick Clark and Dave Foster and Bill made up the locomotive service crew today. Meanwhile as the guys were taking a break I checked up on the switch crew and found they completed the basics on switch No. 2.
Joe is changing the last spark plug for the tune-up as Dick watches. Joe and Dick were working on the GP38 adding extension fittings in place of the crankcase drain plug to make changing oil easier.
Bill had to find a wider plate as the 2 1/2" wasn't wide enough for the height required to clear the switch mounted below and the mounting angles required for the air compressor frame. Ted and Ken are calling it a day and they are well into the building of the third switch.
