Whooloween Run - 10/20/2012

Ken Vendlinger watches at the loading area as Rick Nagy, with the GP38, waits for the train to finish loading on his first run of this overcast day. Dick Clark advances the throttle on his SW1500 and starts moving out of the station with his passengers.
This guy tried to beat the train across the tracks.............. but he didn't make it! Paul Zorko was running his train again today and departs the station with Jennifer Legan as his conductor.
Frank Foti gets back on the tender of his steam engine East Wind after having added water in the tender and will shortly start his next run. Dick departing the station with his next load of passengers, will soon be rumbling down the mainline.
Ken Brooks at the right having just loaded Paul's train watches as the SW6 powered train moves away from the loading area with its passengers. Renee Czeck, Frank Foti's sister and his conductor, smiles for the camera in her witches hat as she tries to keep warm as Frank's train is being loaded with passengers.
Ted Nyland with his passengers having just passed through Horrendous will soon be passing through Zip Junction. Paul climbing the grade from the Truss Bridge as he passes by Mackey's run on his way to the Big Bend Bridge.
Richard Sales double heading with one of the new electric engines he's been working on as he climbs the grade up just past Mackey's Run. As darkness settles into the woods I caught Skip Frank with his steam engine Lynn at the bottom of the grade at Fern.
Paul coasting down the grade from Hilton as he passes by Hilde Hill you can see by the top of the grade wall that we are having sporadic rain. After passing over Gulch Bridge, Rick takes the grade by Gulch up to High Creek and points West with his passengers.
Frank checks the gauges on East Wind as he passes through Horrendous and will soon start the grade down passing through Filmor. Jerry Bell and Robbi Haines are setting out some of the extra pumpkins that were carved and can you tell they are following behind a steam engine? That's a lot of smoke!
Coming through Horrendous is Skip Frank with his full load of passengers and the tracks are wet now. Up near the station in front of the water tower, we see Mike Harkleroad at the controls of the Camelback steamer and with his passengers are about to pass over the ash pit.
Pat Morris of the Park system came down to see if everything was going okay with the run tonight and if we were having any problems due to the weather. In front of the station at the end of the ride, Logan Tapolyai was helping out with dispensing the candy to the riders as they left the train.
Frank passing through the switch connecting to the mainline from the loading area on track two as he gains speed with his train. Jerry Bell talks with one of the riders as Rick waits for Ken to finish giving the riding instructions to his passengers and Lew Fowler is his conductor.
Skip rolls into the station at the end of his run as his steam engine Lynn pops her safety and the escaping steam makes a great picture in the night air and the flash of the camera. Pam talks to the rider who was cleverly dressed up as Woodstock as he departs from the train.
Ted rolls into the station with his interurban's and unloads his passengers and will soon move ahead to the loading area for another load of riders. Logan talks to John Deptowicz as Amy Deptowicz talks with Dee Harkleroad at the warmest place in the area, the fire ring.
Rick still manages to smile even though he's cold and wet from operating the GP38 for a couple of hours and it's only a little after eight so we got a few hours to go. Judson has his train all loaded and is departing the station for his next run.
Skip checks the fire in Lynn as the safety lifts and his passengers are going to be riding incognito with their face masks and the thing to do would be to try to keep warm on the ride. Roberta Uhrich is behind Ethan Deptowicz and Robbi Haines as they watch the riders wait in line and be loaded on the trains, many of the riders in costumes.
Rick waits for the "All aboard!" signal after Ken gives the riding instructions to the passengers before Rick moves the train out and onto the mainline. Jeff Riddler with his electric powered box cab departs the station with his passengers as we wait for more trains to arrive at the station to load.
Rick makes another run with a full load of passengers as he departs the station for points West. A time shot of the activities at the station without use in the flash on the camera.
Big Mike at the controls of Paul's engine giving him a break to stretch his legs and get a cup of coffee and warm up. It's been a long cool night with some rain and yet Pam Znidar can still smile as she helps with the unloading of the passengers in front of the station at the end of their ride.
Bill Deptowicz now at the controls of Paul's engine after Mike went to take care of the Camelback steamer as the end of the run is near. My son John took this picture before I left the station without using the flash for this timed shot without the train moving.
Pam and Jennifer horse around for this pose at the end of the run. I guess they still have some energy to burn. Now Jennifer, this is downright scary! I'm getting some mean vibes from those antennas on your head.
