Andy Yedlick talking to Frank Foti as East Wind is being prepared for a steam up for the run today. The club had this casting made up to give to George Metts wife after his recent passing. George will be missed at our activities and events.
The trains are assembling at the loading area at the end of Shriver Station awaiting the start of our public run today. Ted Nyland giving a quest a ride is hemmed in at the station with the traffic ahead of him.
Lou DeLembo sitting in the conductor seat on a train as he waits for the run to begin. Paul Emch who is also stopped at the station gives a smile as he bides time before the run.
Mike Harkleroad finished loading riders on the train and has given Ken Brooks the "All Aboard!" call so he may move his train. Frank moves East Winds train towards the loading area with Frank Smoley behind him waiting to pull ahead and load riders.
Ron Malinowski has started his run with a full load of passengers as some dark clouds pass over the area. Paul Zorko running his Fire Ball Express train departs the station with his charge of passengers.
Dick Scott gives a thumbs up running the club's Nickel Plate Road switcher as he gains speed. Frank coasts to a stop at the loading area to pick up passengers bound for the great West and the land grab.
As Frank's train pulls away, Ted waits for Mike to load his interurbans. Ted starting to accelerate away from the loading area with his passengers.
Mike gives a smile over his shoulder as Paul with his Nickel Plate Road switcher powered train departs. A low angle shot of the Park's engine, with Ron as engineer, departing the station.
Ken with the club's GP38 and Lou Delembo as conductor on the rear car departs Shriver Station. Paul gives a smile for the photographer as he passes by on the start of his next run.
Dick passing by the tool shed with Josh Frank as his conductor sitting at the rear end of the train. Frank's diesel engine is on the switch which will move his train over to mainline track #1 after departing the loading area.
Ted with his interurbans and passengers as they emerge from the Truss Bridge heading for Mackeys Run. Ron Trenhaile, our train watcher in the chair, checks the trains as they pass by such as Paul's trainload as he heads for Mackey's Run.
Ken passes Mackey's Run with the GP38 taking the slight grade up from the crossing with ease. Dick was next to pass by this location following a short distsnce behind Ken.
Frank with his passengers as he approaches Big Bend Bridge will soon be at the approx. 1/2 way point of the ride. Ted crossing over Big Bend Bridge with a family of riders who seem to be enjoying themselves.
East Wind just starting across Big Bend Bridge with hardly any stack exhaust showing meaning he's hardly working. A view showing most of the train on the bridge as they head next for Pandora.
Ron with the Park engine which has a gasoline engine running a hydraulic pump to hydraulic motors, one on each truck, providing the pulling power for this scratch-built engine. Paul and Josh watch as Roberta Uhrich assists with unloading.
At 2:04 pm. thunder and dark clouds covered the area and the skies opened up in a downpour and we still had several trains out on the track. Those on the trains got seriously wet by the time they got back into the station.
Taking refuge under the station roof was members and some of the public as the heavy rain continued, flooding the track area in front of the station. As they say, Into each life some rain must fall and that saying proved true today. Only got 1 hr. in for the run.
