Work Session - 8/29/18

Today we're going to set the form boxes we made for the bridge piers. Dick Scott watches as Ken Brooks levels the ground inside the footer box as John Koontz works on another pier placement. Frank Foti leveling out the form.
Frank and Ken shovel dirt around the form to keep the cement in as Ron Trenhaile talks to John. John got the clubs front end loader and brought a load of gravel down for placement in the bottom of the forms.
Frank and Ken were shoveling the gravel from the bucket to the form on the second pier. The gravel helped level the base for the concrete that we were going to mix on site.
The crew still working filling in the base of the forms. Hot work, Ken looks like he's been sweating a little and that's Ron standing beside him looking over the progress we've made so far.
John took the tractor up to the ballast pile and picked up another load in the bucket and here he crosses Truss Bridge. Ken and Ron watch as John maneuvers the tractor with the ballast towards the Justin Tyme Bridge.
John eases the tractor and the ballast forward so we can shovel the limestone much easier into the footer forms for Cheat Bridge. We decided to mix the concrete right into the form and here a bag is being dumped in the form.
We changed our mind on how deep the forms were going to be poured with concrete. Ken waits with trowel in hand to level out the concrete after the concrete is mixed in the form.
