Wayne Boron and Ken Brooks are working trying to get a stubborn chipper gasoline engine running but having little success. John Koontz and Frank Foti working on a table by the Willis Car Barn on a segment of track needed for the Cheat Bridge. |
John joined Wayne and Ken in working on the chipper but to no avail. Back down at Cheat Bridge, Ron Trenhaile and Frank Foti lay track panels back onto the bridge beams checking for alignment and length. |
Ron and Frank adding the joiners to the end of the rail to splice the two track panels together. Dick Scott helping Ron to get the bolts and the splice plates in position to join the end of the two rails. |
View of the track panels on top of the bridge timbers all joined together just needing the ties to be fastened down to the bridge support beams. As we fasten the track panels down to the bridge beams we were adding shims as required to level the track. |
Same view but using a flash to see how much difference of making a picture. Frank and Ron working at the elevated end of the bridge adding just a little super elevation to the track as they fasten it down. |
Frank checking the super elevation of the track, we have several thickness of machined aluminum that were glued to the bottom at one end of the level to make it easy to check super elevations. Dick tamping ballast leading up to the end of the bridge. |

| .
The crew pushed the ballast car down the grade on Branch Line just above the bridge abutments, blocked the wheels to keep it from rolling and shoveled the ballast. The one end finished and ready for traffic. |
| .
The crew ballasting and tamping the stone between the ties at the opposite end of the bridge. Almost done as Ron finishes up with the tamping of the ballast. |
