Steve Zaken standing alongside of Frank Fotis' East Wind which is being overhauled to replace a throttle valve in the smoke box. Dick Clark adding the new brake lines connecting the reconditioned trucks.
Frank working on getting the bolts out that hold the boiler to the smoke box as Steve watches. Bill Deptowicz cut pieces of bar stock and clamped them to the bolster support, ready for welding, which will limit the power truck rotation.
Bill took the chassis over to the welding department where Ed welded the bar stock in place. Ed tacked the bar stock in place and removed the clamps and finished the job.
Ed finishes the last segment of weld to the bolster bar stops. Bill angled the bar stops to match the radius of swing of the power truck.
An overhead view of the two angled bar stops that will keep the truck from rotating and damaging the chain in a derailment. Ken is bolting a chain guard in place that he made from stainless steel to support the chain as Joe Banzer and Lew Fowler watch him.
Steve and Rick Nagy watch as Dick mounts the second truck to the car body. A view of the chain guard bolted in place on the rear power truck of the Park engine.
You can see the lifting action of the chain guard to compensate for chain stretching. A side view of the power truck with the chain showing.
Frank hasn't even fired up East Wind and he still gets a dirty face full of soot. Ken helping Frank with dis-assembly so the boiler can be pulled back away from the smoke box.
Rick and Mike Harkleroad lift one of the wood body center seat cars up on the work table. Dick has made the connections with air line hose to the end of car fittings and the main line through the body of the car.
