Club Run - 5/19/2012

Today is a club run day where we can relax and enjoy running or riding the trains because today we will be using the signal system and up on the steaming day we find Frank Foti checking the fire on East Wind. Chet Roberts brought his Mogul and has it steaming up on another bay.
Jerry Bell departs the station with a full load of guest passengers with Judy Oscker as his conductor. With Hal Seiler in front of me waiting for the signal to clear Scott Hewis with his Southern Pacific eastbound clears the signal and heads towards the station.
A close-up view of Scotts newly painted locomotive in Southern Pacific colors parked at the station. Frank Foti in front of the station after having offloaded his passengers talks with one of the guests.
Ken Brooks arriving at the station with his granddaughter Gracie Pekarek riding behind him. Chet's Mogul simmering in a siding by the station as we break for lunch to which we were invited by the church group that were having a picnic in the pavilion.
The members of the St. James Church of Painesville had set up the tables as a buffet style to help yourself and we eagerly accepted the food they had available. A view of the church members and the LSLS members as they sat down to partake of the food.
Another view of those present that were enjoying the food that the church members had prepared. After lunch I caught Skip Frank on his Columbia engine named "Lynn" as he came into the station running light.
Paul's Zorko arriving at the station with members of the church as he slowly approaches Ken Vendlinger's train that is ahead of him. Just about to leave the station with his pair of speeders he built from a kit is Hal Sailer.
Scott coming into the station eastbound with his trainload of passengers as he passes by the steaming bays during our two way running. Josh Frank at the controls of Grandpa's steamer "Lynn" in front of the water tower near the steaming bays.
Bob Charles Bassett at the controls of the club's GP38 has just taken the switch to Short Line and he is running light. Caught Scott with his passengers in the lens of the camera at the crossing just before Zip Junction as he makes his way back towards the station nearing the end of this run.
Isabel Roberts is at the controls of the electric box cab as they pass through Zip Junction with her dad Sean Roberts seated behind her. Alex Bruchac is at the controls of Joe Laskowski's electric powered interurban as he coasts down the grade to Ahlin on the Branch Line with his passenger.
A few moments later Bob comes down grade with the club's GP38 as he passes through the same area heading over the Cheat Bridge and points East to the summit at Bruce. Seems to be a favorite route as of late as Scott with his train passes by the photographer but he will take the switch to the Justin Tyme Bridge and head for Fern to await the signal.
Dick Clark with his SW1500 as he passes by Mackey's Run will soon rumble over the grade crossing and through the Truss Bridge on his eastbound direction back towards the station. Ken has chosen the switch that will take him over the Justin Tyme Bridge and he will depart the Branch Line track and soon be back on the mainline track.
Ken Vendlinger with his Reading electric powered switcher train as he passes by Drudgery on the mainline shortly after the start of his run from the station. Back at the station Steve Zaken was at the controls of his electric powered boxcab which is a Plum Cove kit with Dave Hird riding behind him.
Frank Foti pulling into the station with East Wind and the few passengers that he had on this run. Alex stopped short of the station to talk to Ken before moving up to the station and picking up a passenger.
Steam engines always seem to draw the public's attention and Ted Nyland's American is no different as it sits up on the steaming bay building boiler pressure. Skip checks the firebox on "Lynn" before departing the station with Josh and George Metts riding behind.
An ever smiling Ken departs the station with Hal, Isabel and Sean riding behind him on his train. As members in the background gather around the sidings and talk trains, Paul and Dick in the foreground sitting on the train take time out to relax from running the trains.
Frank takes the switch that will lead him to the ash dump pit we have by the water tower so the ashes under the grates don't get too high in the firebox. Dick converses with Marie Nyland who what can I say but "Plays in the dirt" and does a fine job of maintaining the property with plant life.
Paul Emch with his Morris switcher in the Nickel Plate Road paint scheme is about to depart the station on his next run. In front of the station Ted Nyland adds air to his engine for the brakes as he gets ready to take it on a run around the track complete with a stack extension to keep the smoke out of his face.
Hal and Doris Seiler stopped in front of the station on their eastbound trip around the track. Joe Vasko with his Chessie engine with his son at the controls and getting and assist from dad as they move by in front of the station.
Dick Clark back at the controls of his SW1500 as he passes through Horrendous with his passengers and Hal on the rear as conductor. It was a good day and we all enjoyed ourselves.
