Public Run - 7/25/10

Dave brought one of the conductor cars he and a few others worked on and added the plunger to hold your beverage. Ken Brooks is leaving the station with the first load of passengers on this rainy day as Roy Harris in red shirt has called "All Aboard".
The photographer stood under the roof of the covered bridge to keep dry and waited for the trains, Mike Harkleroad with the Park engine came along. Frank Foti with East Wind was next and rumbled through the structure.
Rick Nagy coming thru the bridge on his mandatory run prior to hauling the public thus he has no passengers. Ken passing thru the covered bridge on his way to Zip Junction and points beyond.
Back at the station the kids are doing what kids like to do....watching the trains. With everyting wet out in the woods I found Ted Nyland at Mackeys' Run climbing the slight grade to the Big Bend Bridge.
Mike came by next with a full load of passengers at the same location with the Park engine. Rick also taking the grade at Mackeys' Run and this time he has a full train load of passengers who have braved the weather today just to ride the trains.
Ted after having passed through the Truss Bridge is at the grade crossing for the Park access road. Due to the wet weather, which makes for slippery rails, Karl Losely was walking the rails with one of our sanders, especially on the grades for the engines to gain some traction pulling the trains.
Here comes a happy trainload of passengers with Mike as engineer and Steve Zaken as conductor. Dick Clark showing that there are still some sprinkles of rain and I know that is not an umbrella that John Koontz is holding as they make their mandatory run.
Ken passing through the Truss Bridge and another load of happy riders as they are about to pass the photographer. Ted with his interurbans after having just coasted down grade from Hilton and passing through Fern.
Mike coasting down grade and is crossing Bridge #6 with his trainload of passengers as he heads for Fern. Ken caught in the flash of the camera after he passed through the crossover switches at Gulch.
Today at the Park was the Wildlife Festival and the Wood Carvers Show and this red tailed hawk was being shown by its handler, one of many displays today. At least the rain or drizzle has stopped and Roy has loaded Kens' train and Ken is moving out.
Where's the engineer, the train is loaded and no engineer but the expression of the riders seems to indicate that they don't mind. With the run officially over Dick takes Edith Hacker, who was helping to unload the passengers at the station, for a train ride.
Bonnie Zaken waiting for her hubby Steve who is still a conductor on one of the last trainloads of the riding public. You can see the soot covered face of Frank as he takes some friends for a ride in the woods.
Linda Harris watches as Jerry Bell and Lew Fowler fold up the pennant flags with Pam Znidar and Ken watching from trackside. As Jerry and Edith rake and pick up the apples, Ted and Marie Nyland enjoy a ride on their interurbans.
