Public Run - 9/09/2012


Public Run Day, and the crew has made up the trains and moving them in front of the station in preparation for the run. Rick Nagy is going to be the first one out with the club's GP38 as he takes the train with all the passenger cars loaded and heads out, down the main line.
Skip Frank coasts to a stop in front of the station with his lone passenger who will depart the train, as Skip checks the coal in the firebox. Roy Harris gives riding instructions to the passengers after loading them onto the Snoopy train as John Deptowicz waits for the call "All Aboard" from Roy before he moves his train.
With his whistle blowing Skip takes the grade crossing at the Park access road as he passes through Zip Junction on his way to Horrendous. Ken Vendlinger gives a wave as he passes through the Truss Bridge with his electric powered Reading switcher.
Ken Brooks, our club president, as he passes through the Truss Bridge on his way to Mackey's Run and the Big Bend Bridge. After coasting down our 3% grade, Paul Emch opens the throttle on his Nickel Plate Railroad Hudson steam engine as he heads for the Truss Bridge.
John with his Snoopy train as he has just passed through Fern and will soon be rumbling over the Truss Bridge. Next train to come along is the GP 38 with Rick at the controls and another full load of passengers as he passes the cars on the siding by Fern.
Richard Sales, with his electric powered engine, has just descended the grade from Hilton and passed through Hilde Hill on his way to Fern. As Ted Nyland, with his interurban's, approaches Fern he passes over Bridge No. 6 with his smiling passengers.
Taken from inside the curve at the same location, Dick Clark passes by with his SW1500 and his passengers with Steve Zaken as his conductor. Marty Pinkston, with his electric box cab, passes through the sunshine streaming down through the trees as he passes over Patty's Rock Bridge and will soon be ascending the 3 1/2% grade to High Creek.
Dick passes the photographer on his way to Gulch Bridge with almost 2/3 of the trackage for the public run covered for this trip. A good close-up shot of Judson Elliott with his home built electric box cab and his passengers, also on Patty's Rock Bridge passing through the sunlight.
Paul with his Hudson as he passes through Horrendous and his trainload of passengers will soon start down the grade towards Filmore. Some distance behind Dick passes through Horrendous with his trainload of passengers and that's Bonnie Zaken on the rear as his conductor.
While watching the trains passing through at Horrendous, Rex Shriver approached with his passengers on his train powered by his electric cab. Judson was next to come along with this family of passengers that seemed to really be enjoying riding the train.
Ken was next to pass by with his smiling passengers as he makes the return trip through the grade back up through Horrendous. Rick passes by my train spotting area with his full load of passengers and that's Lew Fowler on the rear car as his conductor.
Paul passes by with his train on his way down the grade through Filmore and over Patty's Rock Bridge with his passengers and Judy Oscker as his conductor. Look at the smiling faces as Richard nears the end of his run with less than a minute left to the ride.
Bill Deptowicz has set down the camera, giving his son John a chance to stretch his legs, and is engineer on the Snoopy train while his son John takes some pictures. Back at the station with a new load of passengers, Bill is just starting to leave the station and smiles in response to Rick's comments.
Josh Frank at the controls of George Metts' newly constructed engine as he tested it out on the Orchard Loop behind the station and having fun. Richard just starting to roll as he starts his next run with his load of passengers for points West and standing is Bill Besselman who is our passenger counter today.
A low angle shot of the passengers as they come out of the covered bridge as they ride the interurban's that belong to Ted Nyland. Skip passing through Zip Junction on his way towards Horrendous with "Lynn", his engine, pulling easy with it's load of passengers.
Linda Harris at the controls of the electric cab at Zip Junction as she gives a break to Rex so he can warm up with a cup of hot coffee and stretch his legs. Dick approaches Zip Junction after having passed through Horrendous as he nears the end of his ride and that's Steve as his conductor on the rear of the train.
Bill passes by with the Snoopy train and his smiling passengers as he heads towards Horrendous after having passed the halfway point of the ride. Mike Harkleroad at the controls of the Park's engine as he passes over the grade crossing and starts the grade to Mackey's Run with his trainload of passengers.
Ted emerges from the Truss Bridge with his happy load of passengers that seem to really be enjoying the ride. Dick will soon start the grade up Mackey's Run towards the Big Bend Bridge after having passed through the Truss Bridge.
Skip passes by with his circus train and the precious cargo and will soon be rumbling over the wooden Big Bend Bridge. Back at Zip Junction, John caught his Dad with the Snoopy train as he passed by on his way towards Horrendous obviously enjoying taking pictures.
The line of passengers is dwindling as Mike Harkleroad departs the station with his passengers as Ted with his interurban pulls up to load a few riders. Linda comes into the station with her last load of public riders at the conclusion of our run today.
