Club Run- 9/15/2012

It's a beautiful day for our club run as Kitty Shriver sitting at the registration table for those running trains is in conversation with Judy Oscker. Rex Shriver and Dick Philpott talk with Ken Vendlinger who has just pulled into the station from a run.
Dick Clark with his SW1500 pulls into the station with Lew Fowler riding behind him. Dick was about to depart the station when Bill Besselman approached him and Kenny pulled into the station with his train on the eastbound track.
Next arriving at the station was Skip Frank with his Columbia steamer named "Lynn" with Trevor Smith and his grandpa Dave Mroczynski riding behind on the circus train. Passing by in front of the station, Josh Frank was running George Metts' Camelback steam locomotive out on the mainline.
Mike Harkleroad assists with the taking on of water for the tender of the Camelback before they depart the station again. Bob Rusczyk from Erie, PA brought his F7 diesel to the run that he is working on.
Skip was checking out his tender in between runs in front of our water tower by the inclined track to the steaming bays. Up on one of the steaming bays, Ted Nyland was preparing his American to get up a head of steam on it and here we can see the water hose connected as he fills the boiler.
Bob Rusczyk passes by the steaming bays and he is westbound out of the station with Lew Fowler riding behind him. I've heard of wrong way Corrigan but this is ridiculous, but in fact Frank Smoley is backing into the Orchard Yard with Steve Zaken and Dave Hird who were riding behind him until Frank turned around.
Kenny passes by as he departs the station with Dick Philpott riding behind him on the mainline heading west. Out back behind the station Mike Harkleroad was overseeing the youngsters taken a turn at running the Camelback steam engine on the Orchard Yard loop.
Paul Emch arriving at the station with his Nickel Plate Hudson steam engine at the end of his run as he stops just before the station. With the change of engineers Don Speidel sits astride the tender and poses for a picture before he departs the station.
You can tell by the smile that Don is enjoying running the Hudson as he poses for the photographer. Mike gives Trevor operating instructions for the Camelback on the track behind the station.
Bill Deptowicz, the club photographer, took the GP38 out for a run down the mainline westbound and encountered Dave Foster and Bonnie Zaken at Hemlock running eastbound. At Zip Junction I passed Bob Rusczyk and his wife Michele as they were headed back towards the station.
Passing through Horrendous Paul Zorko with his wife Anna sitting behind him in the gon with Steve Zaken, Edith Hacker and a guest riding behind on the straddle car. Shortly afterwards Dave and Bonnie approached the same location on their way back into the station.
Just leaving the station I caught Ken with his grandson, his wife Belinda and his daughter riding behind. After I pulled into the station westbound Bob and Michele arrived eastbound with their train.
As I come up the grade on branchline at Gruffer I had to wait for John Deptowicz with his Snoopy train to clear the switch at Summit so I could proceed on to Bruce. As I was about to pass over the mainline crossing at Filmore I had to wait for mainline traffic which was Paul with his train.
Richard Sales is hollering at his engine telling it "When I tell you to push, you push as you are not on the head end of the train this time", as you can see by the backrest of his control car at the far left. Paul leaving the station westbound and the Snoopy train is ahead of the GP38 and both are eastbound out of the station.
The Snoopy train eastbound his just passed over the crossing at the Main Line and the Branch Line at High Creek and will soon be descending the 3 1/2% grade through Gulch. After the Snoopy train cleared the block, Bob with his F7 ascending the grade will soon be at High Creek.
Brendan Jucha as engineer of the Snoopy train as it leaves the train station with John, Andrew Jucha and Nathan Jucha as passengers. As the train passed my vantage point we see Ethan Deptowicz, Aida, Paxton and mom Leslie Hunnewell, Judy Oscker, Trevor Smith, Dave Mroczynski and Lew Fowler enjoying the ride.
Passing through Horrendous we meet a smiling Gracie Pekarek at the controls of grandpa Ken Brook's train. Back at the station, Aida Hunnewell steps off the straddle car after her ride deeply engrossed in the train on the adjacent track.
Aida, Paxton and mom, Leslie Hunnewell, pose in the engineers seat for a portrait with the train that they rode on. I guess you can't get the kids to look at the photographer all the time, either that or they have to blink. Anyway, they had a great time.
