New Years Day Run - 1/01/14

Kathy and Karl Losely with the youngster as Ron Trenhaile watches and Rick Nagy getting more refreshment. Mike Uhrich, our host and chef, helps serve as the group files through filling their plates.
Here Jeff and Cindy Klein, Linda Harris, Edith Hacker, Don Speidel and Victoria Harris enjoy a conversation as they finish eating. Dick Clark and I'm thinking maybe it's a little too early for him today or else he just doesn't want his picture taken.
The living room was a popular place and here Frank Foti is in discussion with Ray Dellmore as the others listen. Judy Oscker, Pam Znidar, Sue Bell, Emily Kutscher and Jerry Bell take time out for a photograph.
A view of the activity going on in the family room where conversations abound. Pam seems to have the attention of the group at the table.
Family, friends and members share in conversation in the kitchen area. Of course with all that food comes kitchen duty and here Kathy Losely and Edith Hacker can still smile for the photographer. Are they really enjoying what they're doing?
Linda Harris and Sue Bell take time out for the photographer to snap this picture. Roberta Uhrich making a point as Jeff and Cindy Klein along with Steve Atkins, listen intently.
Our host and hostess Mike and Roberta Uhrich who made this brunch available to the members, family and friends. At the park the snow had been cleared off the loop around the station and Marty Pinkston tried out his experimental chassis.
Marty had it radio controlled but it had an affinity for climbing the rail in the snow and derailing by the switch just past the station. Dick Clark all bundled up against the cold as he walks back towards the station.
Marty standing behind the station in Orchard Yard as he controls the chassis on the loop around the station as Richard Sales watches. Ron Malinowski sweeping off the rail on track four coming out of this storage building.
Mike Harkleroad using the clubs GP38 tries to push his way up the grade out of the yard towards the main as Ron continues sweeping the track at the yard switch. A view of the yard area with the snow-covered track and heavily laden branches covered with snow.
Mike hasn't been able to plow his way through the snow, because of the grade going out of the yard the GP38 is losing traction, so he backs down towards the Stanek Car Barn as Ron watches. With the snow built up under the wheels the GP38 is off the track.
Mighty Mark Harkleroad lifts the front end of the engine as Ron lays in the snow to align the wheels of the front truck back over the rails. With the engine back on the rails Mike backs the train towards the storage barn.
This is the farthest point from the yard that Mike made on the grade leaving the yard in this view looking back towards the storage barn. Picture taken of the snow-covered Branch Line from the end of the yard looking West.
A view looking from Gulch towards High Creek at the snow laden trees and yes there is a track that curves through the center of the picture to the left. Standing on the mainline right-a-way looking down through Gulch towards Hilde Hill.
Looking at a snow-covered Gulch Bridge that mother nature dusted overnight. Our elevated track at Hilde Hill which lessens the gradient for the trains running eastbound.
The wet snow was so heavy that the young fir trees had a difficult time standing upright. The snow created some beautiful scenes as is the case with our Covered Bridge, as a silent sentinel waiting for a train to rumble through with the sound echoing off its supporting walls.
The snow laden branches provided a canopy over the track but hung much closer to the top of the rail because of the load. The Truss Bridge stood out in starkness from the white blanket that covered the surrounding the area.
Our Covered Bridge among the snow-covered terrain waits patiently for the next train to pass through, rumbling over its deck and possibly with exhausts from the steamers blasting skyward to vent through the cupola in the roof. Marty takes a picture of the radio controlled experimental engine as it comes back in towards the station.
The young man, bundled against the cold, watches as the engine rolls by and will shortly be in front of the station. Paul Emch, Ron Malinowski, Dick Clark and Mike Harkleroad watch the action at the station as the snow continues to fall.
Alex Bruchac, Dick Clark and Edith Hacker in front of the station as they watch the experimental engine. Paul and Mike are leaving as Alex Bruchac is talking to Jerry Bell, who has just arrived.
