Work Session - 1/05/11

For our first work session of 2011, we can see the progress on the car cover that Steve Zaken and George Raby have made. Rick Nagy removing the bearing retainer from the locomotive axle so the wheels can be removed.
Dick Clark mounting the relocated air line that was rubbing on the car wheels and wearing. Joe Banzer removing the air compressor for the brakes because the lower mount weld broke loose.
Dave Foster conferring with Joe as to the positioning of the neutral microswitch for the engine controller which was previously mounted on the lower bracket for the air compressor. A closeup view of where the bracket broke off where it was welded to the oil reservoir tank.
Ted Nyland, Dave and Joe discuss modifications to be made to the park engine because of an overheating problem. A view of the park engine before we removed the battery and the oil reservoir tank for the new equipment layout.
The steel angle for the gas tank support will be removed and a battery support leg will have to go between the air tank and the control rods adjacent to it. On the opposite side of the air tank the hydraulic hoses will be removed and relocated when we put the new reservoir tank in place, which Dave Foster is building.
The new hydraulic reservoir will be mounted where the battery is in this picture and the battery will mounted over the air tank on a platform. The battery will then be located in this picture between the gas tank and the reservoir.
