Work Session - 1/13/10

Dick Clark working on one of the side frames of a truck to get it ready for installing brakes. Mike Harkleroad cutting the cast nubs down a little on a truck side frame for brake rigging clearance.
The bolsters and side frames degreased and some already modified for the brake rigging. If you look at the nubs projecting out from the side casting for the brake rigging you can detect that we removed about 5/16" from them.
On the closest side frame the nubs have been modified and on the other one they still have to be shortened. Mike continues working on sawing them off and then filing them flat.
Ken Brooks sawing the spring pad so the brake hanger linkage will clear. The side frames having the nubs shortened and the spring pads cut down.
Mike, Rick, Dick and Dave Foster discussing what we plan to do at our next session as the turnout was light for this session. The wheel sets have been degreased and are ready for the re-assembly.
Mike, Rick, Dick and Dave at the end of this work session. The wood center sill cars that the trucks came off of with Ken and Dave discussing what is needed to keep the trucks from rotating too far if the car derails.
