Work Session - 1/19/11

Dick Clark and Joe Banzer discussing our work project and what is going to be done next. The new battery support box will be installed where the vertical gas tank support is located next to the front of the air tank.
Here we catch Frank Foti doing a little maintenance by changing the oil on East Wind from the oil pan and then he'll check the gap on the spark plugs. Bill Deptowicz is checking out the tubing of the air lines on the riding car for any possible wear.
Joe looking over how Dick routed the air line tubing away from the wheels underneath the rider car. Frank expounding on some of the benefits and antics of East Wind as Dave, Bill and Ted get a good laugh.
Ted Nyland with a cutoff wheel cutting out the sheet metal behind the ventilators to make them operational for additional cooling of the engine housing on the Park engine. Joe holding the power cord to keep it out of the way as Ted continues with the cutting of the sheet metal.
Steve Zaken helps George Raby in positioning the guide for the routing of the vertical lines to simulate the vertical planking on the box car housing. George using a battery-operated Dremel Moto tool with a carbide bit as he routs out the grooves.
Dick fastening the clamps to hold the air line through the sheet metal deck of the rider car as Paul Zorko lends a hand. Dick found out you've got to grind off the points of the sheet metal screws when they poke through the decking from mounting the air lines; so they don't penetrate a rider's shoe!
From the looks of it, the battery cables will have to be replaced with longer ones because of the new battery location. A view from the opposite end of the work area of the Park engine.
