Work session - 10/06/10

Paul Zorko and Dick Clark sort through the stack of switches as Lew Fowler watches on this a cold and wet day. Paul and Dick hoist a switch up on to the table which will be loaded on the work train behind Lew.
John Koontz, Lew and Paul wait for Dick to decide whether we can use this switch at our intended location. Adjacent to the ballast stone pile the two switches are spotted on the existing track to check for the best possible location.
Ted Nyland was in the Switch Building building another #7 switch. Jerry Bell stopped in to check his progress on the switch making.
We tentatively laid down track sections to see how the new track will cross the mainline and the Park access road. We want to cross the access road with a straight section of track to ease the construction of the grade crossing which will have trucks drive over it.
The access road has a trench on either side of it which will require a culvert pipe to maintain the flow of runoff water. A view from the switch we cut into the curve on Short with the stakes representing the centerline of the right-a-way for the new track.
A closer view of the right-a-way stakes and this side of the access road with the trench we will have to add a culvert pipe to. The curved track will ease into the straight section crossing the access road.
