10.10.07 Work Session

Frank Foti blowing wet leaves off the track as today it decided to rain....all day long. We decided to work in the rain on the leanto shed and the first roof rafter is in place at the end.
George Metts standing by the step ladder and we have seven rafters in place. George Davidson coming down off the step ladder and all the rafters are in place and have to have all the remaining nails put in the metal clips.
George is adding more nails to the rafter clips as George and Tom Reder watch the progress in the rain. With all the nailing done the four of us decided that was enough playing in the rain and time for a hot cup of coffee.
Back at the station the track crew was trying to find the leak in the underground air line, that serves two service stations with air and water for the engines, by flooding the ground with water.
You could see the pooled water with the air bubbling up. Frank was starting to dig and George Metts used a metal detector to find the pipe as Rick Nagy and George kept out of the rain.
Frank watches as Rick digs for a while and Edith Hacker comes to the station to get warm. Joe Banzer tries to loosen the pipe from the support post.
As Frank digs you can see the air bubble at the base of the post. Found out why George didn't have much luck locating the pipe as the air line is plastic and Frank sawed it through to get to the leak.
Frank trying to remove the vertical section of air piping from the post as Joe watches. The culprit turned out to be the transition fitting between the two different pipes.
