10.13.04 Work Session

Last Saturday members removed track between the sheds so that Karl Losely could get his equipment behind the Switch Shed and level the ground for the yard expansion.
View looking West from behind the shed. Several tree stumps had to be removed that were in this view for the future yard expansion.
View looking Southeast from switch at the beginning of existing yard ladder. Was going to tell you that Edith Hacker accomplished this with her shovel and wheelbarrow but tire tracks give it away.
Thanks Karl, you saved us a lot of work. The tie rolled when Karl drove over it but we thought that leveling it back up was easier than what Karl leveled. That's Tom Reder and Dick Clark
Tom who's interested in joining the club and Dick are reworking the roadbed to replace the track. Dave Foster with his backpack blower working on the leave problem.
Dick working with the pick to level out the ground. The pumpkins that the Park provided are being moved closer to the station for the carving session later.
We have a total of 110 pumpkins to carve this afternoon and evening for the Halloween Run on Friday and Saturday night.
The tie is reset and leveled and George Davidson and Dick are ballasting the track. Dick hefting one of the buckets of ballast weighing approx. 60 lbs. It's a good workout.
The rain chased us off the track relaying so we shifted to the pumpkins. Ted Nyland, Edith Hacker and Tom Reder are cleaning out the pumpkins as it rains.
George Metts stepping over the pumpkins looks like he's doing the Linde Hop as Dave carves the pumpkin tops out. Some of the initial carvings on the table top.
It's a little after 4 pm and more members are showing up to carve pumpkins. Kitty Shriver is showing us that once a year she has bats in the belfrie or just getting batty.
Robbi Haines showing Dick how to start a fire with the wave of a hand. Not really, there're discussing the fire ring. More members and the carving continues.
Frank Foti in the process of cleaning out the inside of the pumpkins. The members under the station roof to keep out of the rain.
Everyone is diligently working on cleaning, carving and moving the pumpkins. Bob Beardslee and Ted Nyland look engrossed in the task at hand.
Some of the pumpkins that are already carved for the weekend festivities
Darkness is settling in and the crew is tireing of the task at hand. Many more pumpkins to go and the rain continues.
Abby and Molly, Judson's grandchildren, with their mom Kim Greene helping with the carving as Kitty works on her pumpkin. Almost finished with the pumpkins.
Jerry, Bill, George, Mike, Emily and Bill. Would you believe that Jerry had two pumpkins that he carved that the tops didn't fit? The station and the remaining group at 8:30 pm.
Wet rails to the station as in the background the members put away the pumpkins.
