10.13.07 Club Run

Our Club Run/Hobo Dinner was a cool and overcast day and the first thing on the agenda was to get the fire started for cooking. A few brought their equipment, Joe Laskowski with his interurban.
Dick Philpott with his Dinky Creek electric powered switcher leaving Orchard Yard. Edith Hacker and Clint Ensworth taking in the warmth of the fire pose for the camera.
Robbi Haines adding more water to the pot which has several hams in it as Edith watches. Frank Foti is seen here taking his engine for a walk.
Fireside discussions abound with the members trying to keep warm. Now were're talking heat as the wood is really burning hot and the cauldren pot with water is starting to steam.
Alex Bruchac at the controls of Joe Laskowski's interurban as he departs the station. Wally Pausch with a trainload of passengers leaving the station with his gas powered EMD Switcher.
Bob Beardslee made up a tank car for water to aide the volume he has available in his tender. Joe Laskowski's whimsical "Toonerville Trolley" which he was pulling at the rear of his train.
Austin Tapolyai with his brother Logan behind him and Ethan, Amy and John Deptowicz enjoying their Snoopy engine. Caught our cook Robbi barely willing to slow down enough for me to get this picture.
Kitty Shriver was selling tickets for the quilt displayed, that was donated by Cathy Porosky and is talking to Ron Trenhaile. Amy at the controls with the family in tow.
The best place to be with the cold nip in the air was around the pot and keeping the fire going. Clint and Ron listen to Dick as he tells of the modifications he made to add brakes to his train and the controls.
Bob's Pennsy switcher with the front smoke box cover off getting it ready for a pressure test? The pot has been boiling for several hours and Robbi is checking to see if the last item added, the cabbage, is done.
Caught Skip Frank in a quiet moment with his grandson, Josh Frank as they wait for suppertime. Bill Deptowicz with his grandson Ethan in the station where it was a little warmer.
You can bet their backsides were warm in this picture with that roaring fire. While most of us were trying to keep warm by the fire a few were out on the track as this picture shows Dick Phillpott coming into the station.
Logan Tapolyai getting his exercise riding George Metts hand powered car behind the station. "Soups On!!!!!" Robbi is removing the food from the pot as Marty holds a small pot for the items.
Logan at the controls of Dave's speeders with Ethan and Bill as we stop for a picture. Robbi and Joe pause at removing the food, this boiling cauldron is what we need for our Holloween Run.
Roy Harris was pulling the cauldron away from the fire as Robbi and Joe emptied it of it's contents. Dick Mackey talking with Marty as Emily Kutscher, Mike Uhrich and George Davidson listen.
The gang starting to line up at the kitchen door to be served the main dish for the Hobo Dinner. Alex and Kitty in front of the dessert counter we had set up with all the donated items.
Emmy Pausch and Robbie serving up the ham and vegetables as we passed through the line. A few of the members from Div 5 enjoying their meal.
Part of the group ate under the cover of the trees by our train loading area where we had relocated some tables.
Most of the rest of the group ate at the tables that are in front of our station. Mike Uhrich brought some of his Dahlias he picked which are beautiful in their variegated colors.
