Frank and George have come up with a new riding car that has a elevated seat. Not really, they were just moving the reconditioned seat out to Horrendous and they got off the seat right where they are at, as it rocked too much.
Tom Reder and Lew Fowler nail down the sheets of chip board to the roof rafters. Here the track crew watches as George works on the track gage between the two switches.
The ton of pumpkins were delivered and unloaded and Terry Sullivan and Richard Sales are cutting out the tops. Marie Nyland working her cemented rockfall waterway to channel the drainage water from the Park's service area.
George and Dave Foster watch as Lew uses a stapler to attach the roofing felt down. Edith Hacker, our boss lady, checks up on how we are doing fastening the shingles down as George and Paul Emch work behind her.
From this elevated angle you can see that we have almost two thirds of the shingles down. While we finished laying the shingles, the track crew was aligning the track and going to shim up the ash pit to the surrounding rail.
At the station the members and their families had started working on the pumpkins in ernest as we had over 110 pumpkins to carve. It was nice to see that as the afternoon progressed that more and more people showed up to help out with the task..
It was good to see that the families really got involved, with the adults and kids showing their creative genius. Some pictures of the finished pumpkins that have been carved out.
Some of the faces put on the pumpkins and not all that many were scary but happy! Alot in fact were of smiling faces.
The pumpkins for the Halloween Run will be set out in the woods along the right-a-way and lit with candles after dark. Marie working on one of her masterpieces.
Kitty Shriver carved out this pumpkin and with what else but a kitty face. Behind the station Kathy, Alyssa, Karl, Ron, Edith and Dick enjoy supper.
Ben Marsh holds one of his creations that he has just completed. Jerry Bell taking out the shims for the switch points that were gving us a problem on one of the switches that George checked the gage earlier today.
The crew started loading the pumpkins onto the trains for storage in the car shed till Friday. Ron handing pumpkins to Paul for loading in the gondolas and yes that is a manikin leg sticking up in the corner of that gon.
Judson Elloitt scratching his head possibly wondering who's going to clean up this mess as the kids keep on carving. Jake Knox clowning around with the manikin leg with his knee just sitting on top of the hollow form and his leg behind him.
Skip Frank with his grandson Josh Frank laying out a design to carve on the pumpkin. Another trainload of carved pumpkins ready to be put into storage till Friday.
Ethan Deptowicz said he can't lift a pumpkin and Mom won't let him play with a sharp knife, bummer. Roger carving a pumpkin trying to test his skills and Alyssa and Josh off to the right.
Kitty, at left working on another pumpkin with Logan Tapolyai and Jake on the other side of the table creating their one of a kind masterpiece. Marie Nyland's finished pumpkin she was carving in a previous picture.
As night settles in the pumpkin carving crew is thinning out but there are just a few pumpkins left to work on. Robbi Haines playing with Ethan who just loves being swung down and back up. All in all, it was a very productive work session day.
