10.18.06 Work Session

>
While waiting for Dick Clark to arrive I took a walk down to the bottom of the gorge to see the falls and got these pictures. If you've got the stamina for all those steps back to the top, try it.
Dave Foster was using the blower on the leaves around the steaming bays. Dick Clark and Rick Nagy were adding ballast where needed because we didn't want to take up any track because of the Holloween Run this weekend.
Those 5 gallon buckets get very heavy with wet stone even if they are not filled to the top. The pumpkins have arrived!
Now all we have to do is to unload them. Some of the members and friends will arrive a little later and these tables will be filled with people carving pumpkins.
The pumpkins, all 123, are now unloaded and the tables in front of the station hold part of the total. We just have to carve all the pumpkins for the first run on Friday night for the Magical Whooloween Run.
Kathy Losely working out a pattern as Ted Nyland behind cuts the top out of a pumpkin and Jerry Bell starts carving a face. Ron Trenhaile and George Metts are scooping out the insides and cutting out the tops, respectively.
Ted donned a plastic bag over his hand for cleaning out the insides so as to not mess up his jacket sleeve. Jerry Bell w/grandson Phillip, daugher Connie and granddaughter Rachel Dalke carving pumpkins.
Pam Znidar and Mike Uhrich cleaning out the pumpkins. Pam and Ted also cleaning out pumpkins managing to keep ahead of the carvers cutting out the faces.
Dick Clark, George Woodling, Dick Mackey, Tom Reder(behind Dick), Lou Fowler and George Metts. Judson Elliott, Kim Greene, Ben Marsh, Alex Marsh, Molly Greene, Abby Greene, Beverly Elliott, Aden Marsh and Karen Marsh around the table.
Mike and Ron doing their best to fill up the wheelbarrow of pumpkin innards. Kathy Losely with her creation with Andrew Dalke and his mother Connie beside him and Rachel Dalke with ponytail and Sue Bell.
Bill Besselman and Jerry Bell at the task of carving the pumpkins. A view down the length of the tables where at the far end the pumpkins have the top cut off and the pumpkins are cleaned out and at this end carved.
One of our younger members, Dick Mackey who we had to constantly admonish not to run with a sharp knife. Some of the handiwork we were turning out and we were not drinking, maybe the pumpkins were.
Alex Marsh using a cordless drill with a spade bit really enjoying the task at hand. Molly Greene taking the bucket of pumpkin seeds and innards to dump in the wheelbarrow.
A study of concentration as Kim Greene removes a plug she recently cut. Ben Marsh taking a turn with the drill as Roberta Uhrich holding a pumpkin watches from behind.
Kim, Pam, George, Skip, Tom, Mike and Dick are keeping ahead of the carvers with cleaning out the pumpkins. Molly after dumping the bucket makes sure it all goes into the wheelbarrow.
George Metts carving out the top as Ted Nyland takes a break. Jerry working out details for the next carving as Karl and Kathy Losely are in a discussion.
Skip Frank hiding from the camera as Pam gets a good laugh out of the situation. Skip is just trying to hide the fact that he shaved off his moustache but I got his picture just the same.
Emily Kutscher and Karl in the process of making their one off creation. By the way Emily is holding that knife George had better not get her angry.
Kitty Shriver in the station working on her carving project. Rachel Dalke helping to hold a pattern for Kathy with Mike behind them.
Pam, Molly, Karin, Aden, Ben and Abby taking time out from carving to pose for this shot. Mike Uhrich takes time out as Pam and Skip cut pumpkin tops with Dick Mackey and Katie Uhrich doing some carving behind him.
Phillip Dalke watching Kitty Shriver as she shows us how far she is on her latest design. The Uhrichs, Katie and her mother Roberta showing the silhouette carvings they are working on.
Roberta, Bill Besselman and Bill Deptowicz carving the pumpkins trying to make that masterpiece. Jerry Bell created this silhouette which will glow at night with a candle in the pumpkin.
The last seven photos were provided by Roberta Uhrich
