Magical Whooloween Run Part II - 10/19/13

It's about 16 minutes before the run and it's raining as evidenced by the berries on the tree in front of the station. The rain just hangs off the berries and there's not that many people in line for the run tonight.
Marty Pinkston his talking to someone, Marie Nyland is working on carving a pumpkin and Judy Oscker waits to see if we are going to have a run. Frank Foti has East Wind up on a steaming bay and is building a fire in the boiler.
This is a paid event for the public, that the Park puts on, in which they decide what half-hour segment all way to 10:30 pm that they wish to ride in and Rick Nagy is getting ready to head out even though it's raining. John Koontz departs the station with Dave Woldman as his conductor.
East Wind with his safety lifted venting the unneeded steam as he sits up on the steaming bay in the rain. Not that many trains are running in the rain as Rick takes out another load of passengers with Judy Oscker as his conductor.
The riders remain smiling even though we have a light rain falling and Bill Besselman talks to some of them as the train pulls away with John Koontz as engineer. I caught Karl Losely in the lens with the club's GP38 as he passed through Zip Junction with Jennifer Legan as his conductor.
Frank Foti came by shortly with East Wind taking his shakedown run before he starts hauling public passengers. John passed through Zip Junction next with Dave still hanging in there as his conductor.
A wet Karl emerges from the Covered Bridge with his passengers as he heads towards Zip Junction as he nears the halfway point of the ride. Frank Foti emerges from the Covered Bridge with a shivering East Wind in the rain as noted by the towel on the boiler to keep him warm.
John was the next to come by with the Park engine and a full load of passengers after emerging from the Covered Bridge. Rick departs the station as Frank checks East Wind with Ron Malinowski in the background keeping passenger count.
As Frank departs the station, John waits behind to pull up and load passengers and it continues to rain. In the station is the best place to be to keep nice and warm and comfortable where the food and hot coffee is.
Ray Dellmore showed up again today to give some good cheer in his spooky conductor outfit, complete with an umbrella which was really needed today. With the rain that's falling caught in the camera flash, Karl departs the station amid all the exhaust from the stack of East Wind.
Rick passes over the crossing for the Branch Line at Hilton with Frank Smoley as his conductor and it's cold and wet. Frank had his hands in his gloves so he stuck out his tongue to say that I'm number 1 as he passed by Hilton with East Wind.
The 2 trains pass each other going in opposite directions at Gulch with Rick heading towards High Creek and Ken Brooks coasting downgrade towards Hilde and Fern. Paul Zorko started running his train and appeared at Hilde Hill traveling to points West.
Harry Tabor spelled Rick as engineer on a GP38 as Ray assisted with the unloading of the train. The rain let up for a little while and Ted Nyland got his interurban's out but the trees in the woods are wet and when the wind blows it rains down on you.
Frank Smoley, as conductor, covered up with a garbage bag trying to keep dry making quite a fashion statement. Paul departs the station as Ron and Mike Harkleroad watch the loading of the trains.
Dick Clark started running his train and the line started getting shorter as more trains were hauling people now. Mike and Ron watch as Frank cracks the throttle on East Wind and Marty, who was loading trains, is standing underneath the heater behind Frank.
Harry departs the station with a shorter load because of the wet rails we are having a traction problem on our 3 1/2+ percent grade from Gulch to High Creek. Ted leaves the station with Spider Man.
Marty gives the passengers riding instructions as John waits for the "All Aboard!" signal to move his train. Dick waits for his run clearance from Marty and if this rain holds off we may get this run in tonight.
.Harry looks wet and cold as he waits to depart the station, but the costumed riders don't seem to mind as they wait with eager anticipation. John checks over the air pressure for his brakes before he starts his next run
I admire the public for their willingness to stand in the rain, the cold dampness of the evening to wait for a chance to ride our trains. John talks to some of the riders that just got off his train and it's raining again, as you can see the water droplets caught in the camera flash.
With the rain washing away the spooky bone dust, Ray is starting to revert back to the human form. Roberta and Ray tuffed it out in the rain both with umbrellas as we say good night to another Whooloween Run.
