Magical Whooloween Run Part I - 10/21/2011

The Clyde Bleil Covered Bridge that was decorated by Robbi and Karen Haines for the Magical Whooloween Run. Robbi pointed out some fungi that was growing on a tree branch over our track behind the railroad station.
A view of the inside of the Covered Bridge with the telltales hanging down along with the bats, spider webs and lights that don't show up in this photo in the daylight. Rick Nagy and Ron Trenhaile emerge from the Covered Bridge with a couple cars of carved pumpkins they were setting out along the tracks.
Back at the station, Karen and Robbi are waiting for the train to pull out so these pumpkins can take their places along side the tracks. Tonight Karl Losely brought his Hudson which is up on the steaming bay as he raises steam with Ken Vendlinger watching.
The first group of riders are lined up at the station after being ushered in by the Park people and Roy Harris with the beard is loading Jeff Ridler's train. It was a cold, wet night and the coats hid a lot of the costumes the children were wearing.
A view of the proceedings from the top of the grade at the unloading area of the public waiting for their ride and the trains lined up waiting to load passengers. Ted Nyland with his pair of interurbans comes around the curve at Shoe about to enter the Covered Bridge with his passengers.
A few short minutes later, Jeff approaches the same spot in front of the Covered Bridge with his bundled-up passengers as they take this cool ride tonight. Scott Hewis with his switcher and his charge of passengers as they pass Shoe and head into the "spooky" Covered Bridge.
In this photo we catch Richard Sales coming down the grade from Gulch with the club's GP38 just passing Patty's Rock on their way up grade to Gulch. Ken Brooks passes through Gulch just rolling over the diamond on his way down grade to Hilde Hill.
Dick Clark coasting down grade from Gulch will soon be passing by Hilde Hill and Fern with his passengers. Jeff illuminated by the camera's flash as he passes through Gulch on his way to points west.
The activity at the station as the trains keep loading passengers for the spooky ride. At times we couldn't load the passengers on the trains fast enough and the incoming trains unloaded their passengers and had to wait for their next load.
The costumes that some of the kids were brave enough to wear in this cool weather were really cute. Judson Elliott waiting to be loaded after Mike Harkleroad's train on the right finishes picking up his passengers.
Scott turned and helped his small passengers to their seats in the gondola as Roy loaded the train with Trish Koontz in black assisting. A night-time shot of the activity in front of the station at the loading area as the trains come in for their charge of passengers.
John Deptowicz and the Snoopy train at the loading area with its ground effects lighting that shines a red glow in the dark of night. Karl Losely coasts to a stop in front of the station where his charge of passengers will soon unload.
Scott watches the unloading of his train as the children surround Pam Znidar as she passes out candy at the end of the ride. Ken Vendlinger at the beginning of his next run with his electric-powered switcher and passengers bundled up against the chill of the night.
Judson talks with his passengers at the unloading area as Pam doles out the candy from her witch's book. Brett Harris in a straw hat assisted with the loading of the trains as Diane Hopp and Trish pass out signs amongst the riders that she made up so we would know how many were in each group to board the trains.
Scott brings his engine to a stop at the unloading area and his passengers will soon depart the train. Roy giving final instructions to the riders before their train departs the station.
Here's how to keep warm at the station with Rex Shriver, Marie Nyland and Kathy Losely hamming it up for the photographer. In a cloud of steam and smoke, Mitch Lane at the controls of the Hudson cracks open the throttle as the engine starts to move out with its load of passengers on its next run with Rick standing in front of the air hose station.
Is that a horse in front of the station in this time shot or just the placement of people that make it look so? Roy giving instructions to the riders as Ken takes the opportunity to take a sip of hot coffee before beginning his run.
A strange, ghostly figure all in black floats through the activities at the loading area but no one seems to notice it or was it just an apparition that the camera caught on this ghostly night? Ted waits for Roy to finish loading passengers on his interurbans before the start of his next run.
Logan Tapolyai, John, Brett and Trish take a minute to watch as the train ahead of Snoopy finishes loading. At the switch stand in the loading area, Ethan Deptowicz gives a "hand" to the skeleton which seems to have gone to pieces.
The Snoopy train back from its run and the passengers head for the goodie box of sweets for the kids. John with the Snoopy train emerges from the Covered Bridge which is one of the last runs for the evening.
