10.21.06 Magical Whooloween Run

>
Halloween wind chimes hanging by the station in the light drizzle of rain. The trees at the loading area for the trains were decorated with "spider webs" to add to the decor.
Robbi Haines and Ron Trenhaile hang the decorations, from the tree limbs, so they will dangle above the tracks. Tom Reder, George Metts, George Davidson and Lou Fowler trying to get a fire started with wet wood.
Edith Hacker getting the pennant line ready to set up. The crew taking a load of carved pumpkins into the woods to set along the tracks and they will be lighted by candles.
Lou Fowler and Robbi figuring where to put them for the best advantage. Tom Reder rearranging the pumpkin and it is starting to rain again but this time harder.
Ron Trenhaile doing engineer duty at Mackey's Run with the pumpkin train. The park had time slots for the riders and watched the tickets they had handed out which was a big help to us.
We had our friend holding a bowl of candy so the kids could have some at the end of the ride. Rick Nagy waits to load as Judson Elliott starts out after Mike Uhrich loaded his train.
Kevin Harris donned his military uniform and equipment to help out at station duties. Mike and Kevin get head counts for groups riding together on the trains as Roy Harris gives instructions to the riders.
Roy waiting for the next train to pull up for loading with anxious riders behind him. Meanwhile, in the steaming bay, Karl Losely prepares to move the Hudson out on the turntable.
Skip Frank has "Lynn" under steam and opens the throttle to move his engine off the turntable. Paul Emch with his recently acquired Norris switcher engine.
Karl at the station adding coal to the fire before leaving with his passengers. Judson checking over his train as Roy loads passengers. Wet rails kept the loads smaller because of a 3 1/2% plus grade we have.
Kevin assisting with the grouping of passengers at the loading area. Skip on his engine with the safeties lifting and a tall vapor of steam billowing upwards as darkness settles in.
Ted Nyland heads out with a load of passengers on his interurbans. Roy was kept busy with loading passengers as Judson prepares to make another trip around the track.
Kathy Losely, Roger Harnish and Robbi Haines, dressed up as a witch, keeping warm by the fire. Ted now has the interior lights on in his car as he makes another run.
Roy making sure everyone is properly loaded on Rick's train. Robbi, the princess of darkness for tonight, looking good in her outfit and playing the part of a witch.
Emily Kutscher, George Metts and Jonathan Shaffer having refreshments in the station. Ted waiting for his passenger to load as it is still damp, wet and cold.
Talk about short things, not really, you just don't know what kind of animals you may find at the Park when they stand tall.
Paul checking over his shoulder how the loading of his train is proceeding. Roger and Roy assist a passenger with getting on the rider car on Rick's train.
Roger glancing at the photographer as Roy gives instructions to the riders on Dick Clark's train. A young rider checking out the mooing cows in Bill's G&D stock car that has six cast iron cows and a sound board.
For the Halloween Run Bill put in a strobe light in the stock car which created this effect. Ron Trenhaile usually has his straight jacket on for this run but donned a prisoner suit this year.
Saturday morning I took these pictures of some of the pumpkins that we had lighted the night before. See, not all the pumpkins from last Wednesday that we carved looked like they may have been drinking.
We had happy pumpkins with faces and some with images of Halloween all lighted after dark with candles.
Some of the pumpkins had character and probably were carved by a character and some were intricate in their design.
