Whooloween Run - Part I 10/22/10

Ron Trenhaile, Lew Fowler, Skip Frank and Rick Nagy set out the carved pumpkins just past Zip Junction. A view looking toward Cider Bridge and the Covered Bridge showing how they set out the pumpkins, just need to add the candles to them for tonight.
Caught Marty Pinkston running on the Branch Line trying out his disconnect trucks strapped to a log, looks good. Robbi Haines adding candles to the pumpkins and checking that they were level so the candles would burn properly.
Mike Harklroad with the Camelback coming up the grade at Gulch as he passed Ted Nyland going down grade. East Wind with Frank Foti as engineer thunders by as he passes thru Horrendous with his passengers.
Rex Shriver with his switcher passing thru Zip Junction and a meet with the club's GP38 and trainload of passengers headed in the opposite direction. Look who's at the controls of the Toby circus train, it's none other than Dick Mackey and he has just passed through the Covered Bridge.
At the station Don Speidel sits astride the tender of Paul Emch's newly acquired NKP Hudson as he waits to pull ahead and load passengers. Virginia Weinberg dressed as the wicked witch of the East hands out candy to the kids "Come my pretty!" as they get off the trains back at the station.
Virginia trying to keep warm with a cup of coffee as John Blotnick all dressed up is in discussion with her between the arriving trains. Mike moves up to the loading area and is all smiles, the Camelback must be operating good for him.
The kids were dressed for the occasion even if the weather was on the cool side and they had to bundle up under the costumes. Bob Charles Bassett with his trainload of passengers has just left the station and is approaching the switch to Short.
Frank waits for his turn to be loaded as Roy Harris loads passengers on Ted Nyland's interurbans as darknes really starts to settle in, along with the coldness of evening. Rick and Bill Deptowicz wait to pull ahead to load passengers after Frank moves out of the station with East Wind and his passengers.
Rick Nagy departing the station behind the Club's GP38 with the members behind him gathered around the fire pit to keep warm. Don is just about all loaded with his passengers as he waits for Roy to finish the rider instructions before he moves the train.
A panned shot of Bill Deptowicz arriving back at the station at the end of his run with the Snoopy train which had ground effect lighting for the night run. Paul Emch at the controls of his NKP Hudson as he has just started rolling down the track after loading his pasengers for this run.
Karl Losely with his Hudson and Frank Foti with his Pacific "East Wind" sit in front of the station after unloading their trains in a duo of exhaust with safeties lifted. John Deptowicz back at the controls as engineer with his Snoopy train leaving the station.
Skip Frank with his Columbia steamer named "Lynn" as is about to cross over the diamond at Hilton as he starts downgrade toward Gulch. Mike Harkleroad passing through High Creek as he heads for Horrendous.
Karl with the Hudson on the mainline as he nears High Creek and the top of the 3 1/2+ percent grade from Gulch with the Hudson giving off a billowy fume of exhaust. John at the Park Service road after just having left the station reaches for his hood as the coldness of the evening settles in.
Rex Shriver leaving Horrendous as he is about to pass through Zip Junction on his way back to the station. A distance behind I caught Bob with his trainload of passengers as they were about to pass through Horrendous after passing thru High Creek.
Frank passing thru Shoe on his way to the Covered Bridge with out much exhaust from East Wind on this stretch of level track. The entrance to the Covered Bridge as it had been decorated for the Whooloween Run this weekend.
Karl pulling up to the loading area as Ken Brooks waits for the final passenger to be loaded on his train and tries to warm his hands between runs. With the Snoopy music playing from a sound board John just starts his run with a trainload of smiling passengers.
Paul sits astride his tender as Roy loads his train and will soon be running down the main line with his passengers. A three quarter view of Paul's Hudson modeled after the ones that NKP Railroad ran.
Ken departing on his next run with his trainload of passengers as Skip on the outside track pulls into the loading area. Mike having switched over to Don Speidel's train is leaving the station with a full complement of passengers.
Ron Trenhaile stands out in the background in his prison uniform as Bob all bundled up against the cold starts his run. Roy Harris was our loader for tonight dressed up in his military uniform.
Steve Blotnick with the GP38 and a heavily loaded train of passengers departs the station. Ken Vendlinger as usual is all smiles for the camera as he leaves the station with his Reading trainload of riders.
The next day, Saturday, before the run Frank gave a talk to the scouts about the workings of the steam locomotive. The steaming bays were busy today with the activity of steaming up the engines in preparation for the run later.
