10.24.09 Magical Whooloween Run

Mitch Lane bringing the Hudson in to the station at the end of his run. Mike Harkleroad talking to a cold Steve Zaken as they wait for the trains to pull ahead and load passengers.
Sean Roberts tends to his steam engine as the load of passengers depart the station on the adjacent track. As Sean works on his engine Mike and Bob wait for the next train to pull up to load passengers.
A view looking from Drudgery towards Horrendous at the trains and pumpkins along the track. It is just getting dark enough and the crew have lit up the candles in the pumpkins.
The felled tree at Hemlock decorated with pumpkins as dusk settles in. Looks like Roberts train as it approaches Hemlock with the head light blazing the way.
Wally Pausch with his train is next to come along and the pumpkins in the background are all a glow. Some of the carved pumpkins
The pumpkins speak for themselves from the humorous to the scary.
A train in the darkness blurrs the image with it's bright headlight as it approaches the camera. Another pumpkin sitting out as a lone sentinel in the darkness.
The pumpkins were carved by members and their families, grandchildren and friends mostly last Wednesday at the work session.
Another example of a carved pumpkin. Looking towards the Truss Bridge thru Mackeys Run the headlight of an on coming train lights the way.
The same train passing by Mackeys Run as it starts up the slight grade on its way to Big Bend Bridge. A celestial pumpkin helping light up the way alongside of the track.
Another of the carved pumpkins adorning the trackside. "Oh Sole la Mio!" The only thing missing is a large tonsil hanging down.
A train passes through the covered bridge on its way to Zip Junction. The approach of the illuminated Covered Bridge with the lighted pumkins on the ground at either side.
The inside of the lighted bridge with the lights that were strung on one side. There's that near sighted pumpkin with the glasses.
I'll have what this pumpkin was drinking but if you have too much you may end up like the next pumpkin.
Some more of the whimsical carvings of pumpkins that were on display.
From some not giving a Hoot!, to literally flying off the handle.
A time shot of the activity going on at the station as the trains are loaded giving off and erie atmosphere. Another train leaves the station and Bob Charles Bassett is conductor for this one.
On this cold night the place to be was around the fire and the only thing missing was a bubbling cauldron for the witches brew. Photos above courtesy of John Deptowicz
