Work Session - 10/12/2011

Moving day as Frank Foti, Rick Nagy, Dick Clark and Wally Pausch prepare to load a bad order car from the storage barn for the trip to Hose Master, our winter headquarters. The car ready to be loaded into Dick's truck as Rick gives Dick directions about backing up so the transfer panel will fit between the lift rails and the bed of the truck.
The club's GP38 in the foreground and the Park's engine were brought out on the siding track along side the Willis car barn and wait to be loaded into Frank's trailer. Wayne Boron pushes the engine onto the transfer table as Rick releases the valves so that the wheels will roll.
Wayne watches as Wally pushes the engine into the trailer and we find out that the trailer isn't long enough inside for the doors to close completely. Wayne, Dick and Wally muscle the engine out of the trailer onto the transfer dolley that belongs to Frank which he keeps at Hose Master.
The Park engine was transported to our work area in Hose Master and we transferred it onto our work table. Next to come out of the trailer is Frank's conductor car, one of several that Dave Foster and some of the members built as a club project.
That transfer dolley sure is a life saver when it comes to moving equipment in and out of Hose Master as we work on our equipment an you can see the guys moving the car back to our work area. We set the car on the floor next to the body shell that belongs to Steve Zaken to free up the transfer dolley.
Next Wally and Wayne take one of our straddle cars from Dick's truck and head to our work area. When the transfer dolley returned to the truck, Wayne and Dick transferred the bad order gondola onto the dolley.
The crew went back to our track in Penitentiary Park to pick up our club's GP38 and here Dick watches as Wally eases the engine onto the lift with Wayne behind him. The engine and another straddle riding car that needs some attention are ready to be off loaded into Frank's trailer.
Dick, Wayne and Wally carefully ease the engine into the trailer, you don't want an 800 pound engine slipping off the rails and possibly tumbling down on the ground. Frank's working with the strapping to secure the engine and the straddle car down in the trailer to keep them from bouncing around.
After arriving at Hose Master, the GP38 was moved to our work area and rolled out onto the table next to the Park engine. The guys took the dolley lift back to Frank's trailer and are getting ready to off-load the straddle car as Wally adjusts the height of the lift.
The rear trucks came off the tracks so Frank had to lift the car to get the wheels back on the rail as Wally and Dick guide the front end out onto the dolley lift. The guys are getting ready to leave as we're not going to work on the engines today and Dick is keeping track of those who showed up today for the work session.
