Work Session - 11/02/2011

Wayne Boron and Dick Clark check out the air pressure on the control car for the train brakes as it seems we have a leak and it bleeds down the tank pressure. A view of some of the wiring that burned up on the club's GP38 which we had to take out of operation at our last run of the season.
The whole wiring harness melted together during the short so it put the GP38 out of commission. The other end of the wiring harness five feet away also showed damage to the wiring insulation.
The wiring where it was cut due to the engine cowling coming down on it and over time a short developed. The wiring harness even up to the lights was burned up.
Frank Foti removing the screws so we could remove the seat from the straddle car in order to get to the air reservoir tanks inside with Dick assisting at the other end. Wayne checking out the hose connections to the fittings that lead to the air tanks.
With the car connected up to Hose Master's plant air, Dick gradually opens up the valve to pressurize the tank and see if we still have a leak as Wayne monitors the pressure gauge. The pressure seems to be holding after several minutes of watching it so I think we have another task completed and we can put the seat back on the car.
Right outside of Hose Master's building we have a view of Lincoln Electric's wind generator,go to their website to read about it, about 400 feet from where we park our cars. The climax to the end of our season for the work sessions is that some of us enjoy a night out for dinner which was at Olive Garden tonight with Pam Znidar, Roberta and Mike Uhrich, Kitty and Rex Shriver at this table.
Kathy Losely, Robbi Haines, Ken Brooks, Rick Nagy, Ron Trenhaile, Edith Hacker, Dick Clark, Judith Oscker, Karl Losely and Joe Banzer and, of course, Bill Deptowicz who's taking the picture were in attandance. We had a small turnout for the group this year as we usually get two or three times as many members in past years.
