Work session - 12/15/10

Frank Foti, Dick Clark and Rick Nagy are examining the connections at the end of the car for the safety chains and air valves. We decided to paint the trucks, so we're placing cardboard for the paint overspray.
George Raby cutting out the frames for a box car overlay to the riding car as Steve Zaken watches. The car is all protected from overspray with paper and cardboard in preparation for painting the trucks.
Bill Deptowicz spraying the trucks with flat black paint. Spraying the back side of the wheels to make sure everything gets a coating of paint.
The finished paint job of one truck. Everything checks out O.K. as we look at the other side of the truck after painting.
Dick's pointing out how the brakeline tubing was being rubbed by the wheels of the truck and wearing through. We'll have to re-route them. George making good progress as he frames up the body of the cover for the riding car.
George working on the blocks to support the horizontals at the end panel. We disassembled the truck on the GP38 because the disc brake had lost the key and was rotating around the axle shaft and wore it down -- a new axle is required.
A close-up view of the bearing and wheel retainer with the disc on one of the axles. We had to take off the axle from the front truck also because of the same problem -- lost key and worn axle.
A view of the rear end of the engine with the truck hanging off the table so we could remove the axle and wheels that needed attention. The front end of the engine sits on its truck frame minus the front axle.
