Work Session - 12/22/10

Dick Clark working on getting the disc brake caliper from the control end of the engine removed from the truck so we can remove the rear axle from the truck. George Raby found out why you should secure your plywood load in the back of a pickup truck when tooling down the highway......oops!
Getting ready to cut the plywood for the sides and top for the car cover Steve Zaken is having made for his rider car. With the axle removed from the truck and degreased, you can see the damage where the disk was rotating about the axle shaft.
The disk had lost its key and that allowed it to rotate and wear down the axle which will now need to be replaced. In this closeup view you can see the hub of the disk and how it has worn egg-shaped due to rotating on the shaft.
We pulled the engine off the edge of the work table so we could drop the axle without removing the whole truck. Here's Dick checking the safety chains and the air connnections on the rear end of the engine.
George fitting a side panel to the framework as the rest of the guys take a break. Dick Clark, Frank Foti, Steve Zaken in the background with George and Rick Nagy at the table with Dave Foster on the phone and this work session is about to end.
