Work Session - 2/11/09

When we got to Hose Master, Frank Foti had already started earlier cleaning the running mechanism on East Wind. Bill Deptowicz made this bracket at home and brought it in today for the bottom support for the air compressor.
The air compressor supported by the top lugs only with the new bracket beside it. The bracket mounted to the air compressor.
Lew Fowler surprised us today by gracing us with his appearance and was soon filing the upper steel bracket mount. Joe Banzer is trying to get the wheels back in the journal boxes.
Frank taking the back plate cover off the cylinders on East Wind. Ted Nyland and Ken Brooks continue with the building of the switches as Rick Nagy checks out their progress.
Bill worked on this side of the compressor tightening the bolts and Lew crawled up on the table on the other side to tighten those on his side. Lew and Joe trying to get the journal box back in the truck frame.
Bill putting the springs back into the trucks for the 8' long center sill riding car. Nobody but nobody, wanted to shake hands with Frank today. Can you imagine why? I told Frank that there would be a white glove inspection next week.
The trucks are back together with the journal box retainers in place on both sides of the truck and Joe has put thread locker on the threads of the journal box retainer bolts.
The compressor is finally mounted to the engine but we didn't get disconnects for the wiring going to the relay...next week! Frank is still all smiles for the cameraman even after working on East Wind with greasy hands since before lunch and it's almost 5 p.m.
