Work Session - 2/17/10

The bolster king pin, having been greased and the trucks put back on the car by Ken Brooks and Dave Foster. In taking the drive off engine 101 we found the coupling on the output shaft of the motor to be a sloopy fit due to wear as Rick Nagy removes it from the shaft.
With a coil of neoprene tubing Dick Clark starts running the tubing between the trucks. Meanwhile Joe Banzer and Rick start putting 101 back together again and no, Joe is not praying and Ricks not taking a nap.
Dave, Lew and Frank are starting to lift the engine on the lift, actually lower it, to remove the front truck. Using a 2x4 with sling strap under the chassis they will lower the lift to "raise" the front of the engine.
With the back wheels chocked and Dave lowering the lift the straps to start taking the load of the front of the engine. Having pulled the cotter pin from the kingpin the truck slips off the pin as the lift is lowered.
Dick drills a hole through the bulkheads of the car for the brake line tubing. Frank starts dis-assembling East Wind because of a leaking throttle valve in the smoke box.
The power truck that Bill and Ken carried over to the table has been leaking hydraulic oil and we need to fix it. Dick explaining to Lew why he's drilling through the floor boards under the trucks for the brakeline hose.
Frank is working on taking off East Winds running boards as he has to shift the boiler back to clear the smokebox. Did you see that movie about grumpy old men? I just asked them to look at the camera.
The chassis of the Park engine minus the cowling and front power truck suspended by the sling strap. A view from the front of the engine and you can see the muffler under the center of the chassis.
The pipe nipple that goes into the hole above the brass 90 degree elbow fitting was bent and had a crack in it. Three cars are finished with brakes and waiting to go back to the storage shed at the track if ever the snow melts and we can get in there.
