Work Session - 4/22/15

The Park service employees had the beams all in place with the gravel in between and all that it needs is the train to arrive and put into position. This should be a good attraction for the youngsters as they wait for the Lake Shore Live Steamers rides on public run days.
It was an overcast and cool day and Steve Zaken had his train out, trying to put his batteries back in the engine but couldn't remember the orientation so the crew tried to help him get it going. Since he didn't use color-coded wiring Wayne Boron was trying to figure out the orientation.
Last season Steve said he inadvertently touched one terminal to the wrong battery lead and it burnt the connector and here Wayne trims the wire to put on a new crimp-on connector. The batteries got installed and here is Ron Malinowski after taking down the chain we have across the entrance to Horrendous as we tried out Steve's train.
After Ron got back on the train Steve started for Horrendous to continue this run. Steve running his engine is he approaches the water tower at Twin Oaks.
With the engine running well and the look of eminent rain, Steve runs his engine to the yard as Frank Smoley walking ahead of him, throws the switches for him. We got back to the station and a light rain started so that ended any further work.
I drove over to my sons which was just 3 miles away and the snow was really coming down as ice crystals pelted the car. What a day! As I headed West for home the setting sun peeked through the clouds long enough for me to get this picture.
