Work Session - 9/16/15

Track crew is working on the Branch Line replacing some aluminum rail w/steel on the outside curve from Justin Tyme Bridge to the Lionel Bridge. John Koontz is putting down the rail gauges as Frank Foti behind him starts fastening the rail down.
John and Frank work up the grade laying rail as Dick Clark and Tom Reder bend rails and check the radius of the curve against the inside rail. Dick 's bring the rail back to the rail bender so he's not satisfied with the curvature of the rail and will bend it some more.
The crew takes a breather as they watch Frank continue fastening down the rail working to catch up with the amount of rail that is bent and laying in place. A view of the steel rail, that replaced aluminum rail because the inside head of the rail was wearing off.
John watching Frank progress up the grade towards Lionel Bridge with the fastening down of the rail to the ties. With the last steel rail bent and placed in position we found the steel rail was longer than the aluminum ones so the end of the existing rail had to be shortened. .
John fits on the sliding rail joint connector and will tap it in place with a hammer and scewdriver. With some new ballast placed Frank uses a level to check the track along the replaced rail sections of the curve.
