Public Run 10/04/15

Frank Foti in the process of firing up "East Wind", that's sitting up on a steaming bay, as he talks with Ron Trenhaile. This view with the firebox door open and Frank about to put a shovel load of coal onto the grates.
Skip Frank as he fires up "Lynn", his Columbia steamer, with a watchful eye on the pressure and water gauge. Back at the Willis Car Barn, Ken Brooks is unloading his steeplecab electric powered engine and will be making up his train for the public run today.
Racheal of the Park service was taking a screech owl for a walk and stopped long enough for me to get a couple of pictures of the event. A cute little owl.
Wayne Boron in conversation with Skip as the steam pressure builds in Lynn's boiler with one of his circus riding cars in the foreground. East Wind, at grade level, with a train on the siding in front of the steaming bays as Ken Brook approaches with his train on the Eastbound main.
As Ken got closer we see he has Josh Frank riding on the rear with another passenger riding in between as they approach the station. Kitty Shriver and Dave Woldman standing by Kitty's tables of goodies that she sells and some she makes with the proceeds going for gas to power the club's engines and grass cutting equipment.
Dick Clark, Andy Yedlick and Frank Foti in the forground with Ron Trenhaile, Greg Guy, Paul Zorko and Paul Emch in background await the start of the public run. Lou DeLembo and Skip Frank at the Shriver Station with Logan Tapolyai and Bonnie Zaken on the bench behind them.
Frank Foti departing the station with his sister Renee Czak along with passengers and Paul Emch as conductor for Franks' first run today. Skip Frank pulls away from the loading area with his passengers and the cylinder cocks on Lynn open and venting any accumulated water.
Harry Tabor is the engineer of the GP38 departing Shriver Station with a full train and Steve Zaken is his conductor. Greg Guy has finished loading Dick Clark's train and given the "All Aboard" as Dick starts his run with Lou DeLembo as his conductor.
Paul Zorko heading out with his Fire Ball Express SW9 switcher and passengers as he picks up speed leaving the station. Richard Sales just passed through the Truss Bridge headed for the Park Access Road grade crossing with his scratch-built electric powered train.
Following a short distance behind, Ken Brooks rumbled over the Truss Bridge near the same location with his steeplecab engine and riders. Dave Woldman was next to pass by with the Park engine and a full load of passengers.
Harry was next to come into view as he rolled through the bridge heading for Mackey's Run and west to the Big Bend Bridge. Dick just passed thru Fern with his SW1500 diesel switcher powered by a 8hp gas engine as he heads for the Truss Bridge.
Paul passing by in this view from the other side of the tracks as he heads for the Truss Bridge. John just passed thru Fern with his Snoopy train and passengers as he follows Paul running ahead of him.
Richard and his passengers are crossing over Bridge #6 with his train after coasting down the grade from Hilton. Caught Ken with his steeplecab in the lens as he passed by Hilde Hill on his way to Fern and points West.
Frank just coming off Gulch Bridge advances the throttle on East Wind as the engine starts climbing the 3 1/2+ percent grade up to High Creek. Frank, with his steamer Lynn, just passed over the diamond crossing at Gulch as he coasts downgrade.
John with Snoopy and his passengers, coasting down the grade as he passes through Gulch. Quite a bit of action at the diamond crossover as Frank with East Wind running down grade passes Harry with the GP38 climbingup the grade to High Creek.
Richard with his train on the diamond as he passes the photographer standing at Gulch. Paul was next to pass by heading down the grade as he too rolled over the diamond crossing which is set for straight traffic unless we have to divert traffic, which rarely happens.
As I snapped this photo of Ken at Gulch, Dick was just entering the picture as his train climbed the grade to High Creek. Skip, with Lynn's stack exhaust lifting almost straight up, was making his way to Hemlock with his riders just a few minutes into his run.
Paul Emch at the controls of the Fire Ball Express approaches Hemlock with his charge of riders giving Paul Zorko a chance to stretch his legs. Harry with the GP38 just passed through Pandora as he heads for Shoe and the Covered Bridge.
Next to come by at the same location heading westbound was Dick and his SW1500 powered train. Ken as he approaches Shoe with his train and after passing thru the Covered Bridge will be at the halfway point of the ride.
These next two picture show the difference that a stack extension on the exhaust makes between Lynn and East Wind by how dirty the faces of the engineers are between Skip and Frank. Maybe Frank just rubs his face with his gloves to make it look like he's toiling!
