Public Run - 5/15/16

East Wind poses for a 3/4 frontal picture with his smiling caretaker Frank Foti and just as I snapped the picture I heard East Wind whisper to Frank, "Don't forget to lube my side rods, Sonny!". Frank doing what he was told.
It was a cool day today for our public run as members mill around by the Shriver Station before the start of the run. Mike Harkleroad passes through Zip Junction on his way to Horrendous with his passengers.
Minutes later Sean Roberts passed through Horrendous with his 0-6-0 switcher steam engine heading for Filmor. Frank heads for the car storage barn with East Wind for his riding cars as Paul Zorko waits for him to pass.
Mike with his passengers rumbling over the grade crossing shortly after leaving the station. Sean tends to his engine as he heads for Drudgery and points west with his train load of riders.
John Koontz with the GP38 and a loaded train heads down the service track which merges onto the mainline track at Hemlock. Mike departing the station with another load of passengers as Frank Smoley waits for his train to be loaded.
Frank engages the shifter as he advances the throttle on his switcher starting his run down the track. Sean arrived back at Shriver Station with his passengers and Jen Zorko was aiding with the unloading of the trains today.
After unloading, Sean moves up to the water spigot to take on water in the tender of his steamer and the cool weather really shows off the steam vapors from his cylinder cocks. Sean departs with a blast of steam from his whistle.
Ken Brooks is the engineer of the GP38 with Lou DeLembo as his conductor as they start their run. Frank is all smiles as he departs the station with his riders who cooperate with the photographer for this picture.
The turnout of riders for todays Public Run was very light today as we had very short lines with some riding four or five times with different trains. Dave Woldman departs the station with his conductor Valerie Bilchak riding on the rear car.
Frank Foti notches up the throttle on East Wind as they start the next trip. Sean Roberts passes the photographer on the mainline by the switch that leads to Short after just leaving Shriver Station.
Mike Harkleroad passes by running the club's switcher with a light load of passengers as he heads for Drudgery. Dave Woldman is the engineer on the Park engine with Valerie Bilchak as his conductor.
Frank started his next run and in the cool air his conductor, Renee Czak, is all bundled up with only her eyes exposed trying to keep warm. Sean with his switcher just passing over the ash pit.
The line was never long for todays run so many got a chance to keep riding the trains. Ken Brooks pulls into Shriver Station with his charge of passengers and Lou DeLembo on the rear as conductor is trying to keep warm.
Dave slows the train as he approaches the station with his passengers and Jen Zorko is his conductor. Frank just blew the whistle signaling his departure as the safeties lifted from the excess steam pressure in the boiler.
Sean with his engine up on one of the steaming bays getting the engine ready for the trip home. Ken arrives at the station and reaches for the brake control to stop his trainload of passengers.
Paul Zorko and Paul Emch watch the passengers leaving the train that John Koontz just arrived with. Greg Guy was our train loader for our run today and had a relative easy job of it due to the light turnout.
With the train all loaded, Ken starts pulling away from the station with his passengers. Greg loaded the train for John and here the train is gaining speed as he starts his next run.
Caught Frank riding behind East Wind as he starts this run but missed the remark he made to me. Sean's switcher on a steaming bay during it's blow down with fires dropped and the engine venting its steam.
Frank and Renee departing the station with his last load of public passengers for the day. Dick Clark, Ken Brooks, Paul Emch, Greg Guy and Frank Smoley standing by the fire ring and discussing the light turnout today.
