John Koontz just had his 70th birthday and his wife Trish made and brought in this cake for us to celebrate the occasion with him. John and Trish Koontz sitting in front of Shriver Station.
Frank Smoley leaving the station after Ken Brooks just finished riding instructions to the first load of passengers. Today is a night run for the Whooloween celebration at the Park and Dave Woldman starts his run with his RS3 diesel engine.
Many of the youngsters dress for the occasion as is the case with the rider on Ted Nylands' pair of interurbans motoring out of the station. Ken Vendlinger gives a wave as he departs the station with a trainload of riders.
Ron Malinowski answers a question posed by his passenger before he starts his run with Ken looking on. These younsters came prepared in their costumes as the kids and mom wait for the train to start moving.
The Park handed out chemical rings that you could adorne yourself with(around your neck)if you so desired. Dick Clarks loaded train with passengers and I believe that's Steve Zaken as conductor riding on the rear car.
Virginia Weinberg dressed up as a witch and helped with offering assorted candies from a bucket to the kids at end of the ride. It was good to see Judson Elliott with his boxcab engine running tonight.
Richard Sales with his decorated pumpkin control car ahead of his power unit that passengers ride on, is leaving the station. John Deptowicz with his Snoopy train starts his run as Sean Roberts on the adjacent track checks over his steamer.
Sean cracks open the throttle on his 0-6-0 switcher steam engine with a load of passengers behind him. Mitch Lane as engineer of the Consolidation steamer just passed over Festival Bridge and shortly will be back to the station.
Ted and his interurbans about to pass over Cider Bridge with his passengers. John Koontz running the Park engine as he heads for Festival Bridge.
Karl Losely seemingly to be coming out of the darkness with his big Hudson steam engine after passing through Zip Junction. Back at Shriver Station John and his conductor Logan Tapolyai wait for Ken to finish loading the train.
Frank Smoley and Ron Malinowski take a break in between the run times the Park personal has set up into time groups for riding. John Riba waits for riders departing his train to clear the area before moving ahead to the loading area.
Marie Nyland working on another pumpkin as Judy sits with her between the passenger groups. Kitty Shriver seated, helping out with the dispensing of candy to the riders arriving back at the station.
Paul Zorko just got the "All Aboard!" call and has started his next run. John Riba leaving the station on his next run is bundled up against the cold evening which is even cooler when you are on a moving train.
Ted leaving Shriver Station has taken to wearing gloves to help fight off the cold temperature. Mitch Lane sits astride the tender of the live steamer waiting to load after Dick Clark leaves with his trainload of passengers.
John with Snoopy train about to enter the back loop behind our train station as he nears the end of his run. Dick emerges from the Covered Bridge as he takes the grade up to Zip Junction with his passengers.
Karl blasts out of the Covered Bridge with the Hudson producing volumes of exhaust in the cold night air. Caught a witch in the Glen, too cold for flying so she was riding. Virginia Weinberg and Richard Sales as they headed for Zip Junction.
Only half a minute from the station as the interurbans rumble over the grade crossing heading for Drudgery and points West. John at Short, shortly after leaving the station.... some guys get a kick on a play of words.
John starting another run with a trainload of passengers pulled by the club's GP38. Karl leaving the station with safties lifted and cylinder cocks open creating a great visual effect of steam in the cold air.
Ted gets ready to begin his run as Ken starts to pull up his Reading switcher powered train for Ken to load his train. Dave waits as Logan takes control of the Snoopy train with Austin Tapolyai behind him with John and Amy Deptowicz alongside.
With the run over, Sean emerges from the Covered Bridge with his passengers and hardly any vapors from the exhaust stack. Logan with the Snoopy train and family as they emerge from the Covered Bridge with no exhaust vapors from the engine.
