Work Session - 5/31/17

Ken Brooks did some work on his caboose, bringing it back to the track and unloading the unit to the lift as Tom Pappas checks to make sure the wheels roll on. Once again the Park's engine body and chassis is lifted clear of the truck.
The front wheelset is again removed for our rebuilt motor to be installed. The welded up bracket that everything has to fit in.
The repaired hydraulic motor that had new seals on the shaft replacing the old ones that leaked. The engine maintainance crew took a break to get out of the hot sun and hopefully just need to reassemble the parts back together.
Tom holds a scrub tree that is dying as John Riba uses a sawsall to cut it down. Tom is restacking used railroad ties by our smaller turntable that is at ground level.
In our switch shed John Koontz is making a 10 foot long track panel and discussing it with Dick Clark. Frank Smoley and Wayne Boron are turning the powered truck right side up after reassembling the motor and chains.
The truck has been righted and set correctly on the rails again. Frank carefully watches the alignment of the bolster pin with the truck as Wayne lowers his side of the chassis with Frank doing the same.
The front truck is in place and the engine has been pushed onto the lift so the hydraulic hoses can be reconnected. A view of Horrendous after some more ballast has been spread along the track.
This is where the track panels are needed for a new siding we are cutting in. The track crew have got the small work engine and tools out to start assembling track panels.
Frank Foti, Ken Brooks and Dick Scott check the end alignment of one panel as Dick watches from behind. Ken and Dick watch as Frank drives home some rail screws.
