Dennis Crislip, one of our conductors, got here early and relaxes in front of Shriver Station waiting for the run to start. Ken Brooks, as engineer of the club's GP38 today, brought the engine around giving the train our mandatory shake down run.
On one of the steaming bays, East Wind reposes and gently raises steam in his boiler as Frank Foti checks the fire in the firebox. Frank with his trainload of passengers getting ready to depart the station.
Ken Vendlinger has just put the Reading switcher in motion as he starts his first run of the day. In the background John Deptowicz checking out his Snoopy train as Ted Nyland with his interurbans departs the station.
Dick Scott at the controls of the WH&LE diesel engine with a full load of passengers starts his first run today. With John and Snoopy on mainline Trk #1, Ken waits as Mike Harkleroad finishes loading riders on his train.
John double checks the air pressure on the gauge before he starts his first run hauling passengers. After unloading his charge of riders, Frank slowly moves up to the loading area with his conductor, Taren Hillger.
After riders have been loaded and Mike gave riding instruction, Frank cracks open the throttle and East Wind is anxious to get moving. Ken after having passengers loaded on his train, checks the control box getting ready to move out.
Dick watches as Mike finishes riding instruction before Ted will move his intrerurbans for his next run. Ken nearing the end of this run gets some enthusiastic help from his riders as he passes the photographer.
Ted just passed over Cider Bridge and is on his way towards Festival Bridge as he heads back to the station. A view of Ted's riders as they pass by me coming off Festival Bridge.
Dick passing by the same location with his passengers and Dennis Crislip is his conductor. Paul Zorko running his Fire Ball Express about to pass through the Covered Bridge.
Dave Woldman heads for Zip Junction after emerging from the Covered Bridge. Frank with East Wind passing over the grade crossing for the Park Service Road has just left the station only minutes before.
I believe this is a eastern screech owl that is out for some fresh air and a walk. Rosemary Krupar is the owls handler for todays walk and she stopped so I could get these photos.
John with his Snoopy train as they look for the Red Baron as they passed me by. Paul as he passes thru Zip Junction will soon be rumbling over the grade crossing on his way to Horrendous.
Ron Trenhaile sitting in the chair watches over the trains making sure riders aren't turning around, leaning out or taking pictures as Frank passes by. Ken gives a wave after passing through the Truss Bridge.
Dick just coming off the Truss Bridge and will soon be taking the grade up to Mackey's Run. Ted emerges from the Truss Bridge with riders that seem to be enjoying the run.
Frank as his train starts gaining speed starts his next run with a full load of passengers. Roberta Uhrich did the honors of helping the riders disembark from the train and/or took pictures of them with their cameras if they requested.
Paul puts his engine into motion and Jen Zorko is helping Mike with the loading of trains. The riding instruction has been given to the passengers of Dave's train and he has started his next run.
Mike doesn't want me to take his picture but I just can't resist as long as I have a camera in my hands. Ken was the next train to be loaded and is starting his next run.
Didn't have just two persons waiting to ride the train so John left running with a partial train load. The group standing behind the Snoopy train were waiting for a ride behind the steam engine.
Dave departing Shriver Station and you can see the end of the line of people waiting to ride the trains. Ken leaves the loading area with one of the last load of riders for todays run.
John and Snoopy had the distinction of running the last of the public riders for today. Frank moving up to the loading area but there are no more riders waiting, it was a good run day today.
