Work Session - 6/06/18

.
Paul Emch assembled some cars for a work train and is going to spray the right-a-way for weeds. With Ken Brooks watching, Paul maning the sprayer, Judson Elliott is at the controls of Paul's engine as they start down the mainline.
Tree roots are another factor as Ron Trenhaile removes the screws from the rail as Frank Foti and John Koontz wait to trial fit a new switch in place. Behind the Stanek Car Barn, Wayne Boron, Dick Scott and Frank Smoley work on Dick Clark's engine for a problem he has.
A view from the other side of the action around Dick's engine. I talked to crew into deciding that the switch would be better served coming off the lower level using the switch to get into track one on the Willis Car Barn.
Frank starts moving the existing ballast so that the new switch can be set in place. Ron, John and Dick relocate the existing switch back into place with some new ties which will keep the track away from the tree right now.
Originally the car storage barn track number one went to the left of the tree and now will run to the right and tie in with the loading track from our lift. Dick putting ballast on the switch that was just set in and reworked with the track at lower right hand of picture going to track two of the storage barn.
Frank just connected a track panel to the end of the switch to see how the fit up is going to work with the existing track. Looks like things are gonna work out okay and Frank is getting ready to cut the track panel to size.
Ken Brooks watches as Frank adds a couple new ties under the joint between the existing rail and the new switch. Ken adding the screws to hold the new ties in position between the switch and the reused track panel that is track one for the Willis Car Barn.
Frank squares off the end of the track that was hampered by the tree roots which is now a siding track. Ron and Dick re-ballast the track which will now be a siding in the yard for car/train storage.
The guys are still adding ballast to the reworked track where it will be leveled and swept down. The view of the reworked track, standing at the end of the Willis Car Barn and another project is almost finished.
