Work Session - 10/16/18

. . .
Pumpkin carving today, Ken Brooks and John Koontz were cutting out the tops and Tom Harwedel, Judy Oscker's brother visiting from Texas and Judy were cleaning out the innards. Ken, John, Trish Koontz at far end, Tom and Judy working on the cold pumpkins.
The pumpkins in a bin as we receive them from the Park which approximates 50-55 pumpkins. Each year we get two bins of pumpkins so we have 110 to 120 total to clean and carve for the Magical Whooloween night run.
As the pumpkin tops were cut and Trish, Tom and Judy clean out the innards, the pumpkins were set on benches and the floor behind them ready to be carved. Paul Emch assembled a train with just gon's where the finished carved pumpkins will be placed and stored until Friday.
Dave Hird joined in on cleaning out the pumpkins as Judy, Trish and Tom kept up against the onslaught of pumpkins we pushed their way. The cold pumpkins was hard on the hands having them cleaning out the insides especially when you did it for a couple hours.
Judy with her brother Tom take timeout for a photo. We had a light turnout during the day for pumpkin carving I hope there's more going to come for the evening.
Dave Cryor joined us and just jumped right in and started working on pumpkins. The pumpkins sitting on the table are ready to be carved and next will be cleaning out the old wax from last years clay pots to put in new candles.
Tom bringing back a 5 gallon pail that was full of the pumpkin innards which he dumped in a wheelbarrow which we take out into the woods and put on a pile for the animals to have. The crew is cold, no doubt about it, but the pumpkins are getting cleaned out.
Dave and Trish as they continue at the task at hand. Dave picked up a bucket so he can drop the pumpkin insides and seeds up at his area.
Bill Deptowicz working on carving a pumpkin. Which one has the worse face, the pumpkin or Bill? Since I had to leave early I didn't get any pictures for the crew working on the pumpkins later today.
