3.26.08 Work Session


Frank Foti is showing Dick Clark how the locking collar on our new spherical bearings work. Rick Nagy talking to Dick as Frank works on installing the bearings on the stub axles.
We cut the mounting plate for the disc parking brake so we could get the rear axle out of the truck as the support was welded in place. George Woodling works on attaching the truck side frame as Lew Fowler holds the light.
One of the axles with the bearing mounted on one end and its disc caliper. Dave Foster bolts on the journal box retainer bars that we drilled and tapped in the side frames after grinding off the welded ones that were original.
Frank works on aligning the disc brake to the caliper. George Metts, Dick, George, Joe Banzer and Rick wait for Frank to finsih up so we can celebrate Franks birthday.
Sam Foti, Franks Dad, arrived so we stared the birthday festivities. Our birthday boy after we sang Happy Birthday getting ready to cut the cake that Dick Clark brought along with shrimp and the beverage.
Afterward we got back to work and Dave works on a stubborn bolt and Ted Nyland checks out the bearing on the axle. Lew and Rick work at bolting the rear truck side frame back on.
The engine will soon have all its axles mounted back into the trucks and ted was adding the chains on the rear truck. This is what our spherical bearings with its black locking collar looks like.
