Work Session - 3/31/09

It's moving day from Hose Master so Bill Deptowicz got there early so he could wrap the exhaust from the engine with sheet metal. Ken Brooks and Dave Foster secure the load on Dave's truck before we load Ken's truck.
Dave, Frank Foti and Ken slide the switch building jig onto the bed of Ken's truck. George Metts and Tom Reder watch as George Woodling and Ken unload the wooden straddle riding car back at the track.
Today the crew is going to repair the tracks that were damaged when the Park had some trees taken down. At High Creek, Tom, Dominic Raidar and George watch Wally Pausch and Rick Nagy fasten a new rail clip as Mike Uhrich supervises.
Ken made another trip back to Hose Master to bring the club and Park engine back. Dave, George, Lew Fowler and Joe Banzer taking a few minutes after off loading the engines.
Tom uses the tie lifter as Frank drives in the screws to hold the rail in place. That'll teach him, Bill Deptowicz just wacked Frank over the head with a piece of ten foot long aluminum rail. The tree did the damage not Frank's head.
Dick Clark stopped by and is "smoking" a candy cigarette as he talks with Ed Fincher and Don Speidel. Frank dumping a bucket of ballast gravel on the track that was just fastened down to the ties.
The crew is tamping the ballast between the rails before we sweep the excess ballast off the ties. George cleaning off the tops of the ties on the Branch Line where we replaced the damaged track.
This track repair job on the Main Line and the Branch Line is complete and looking good. A view looking from High Creek towards Horrendous with the work train ready to move to the next damaged area of track.
Rick Nagy and Ted Nyland take the switch apart to replace the parts that were damaged when the tree at the left fell on the tracks. It turned out to be more work than they figured to replace the parts and rail on the switch.
Tom, George and Lew work on the track leading up to the damaged switch. Rick and Frank using track gauges to keep the replaced rail sections on the switch in gauge.
Today before having supper we celebrated Kitty Shriver's birthday with a cake. The decorations on the cake says it all....she finally turned ****.
George, Frank and Rick watch as Pam Znidar prepares to cut the cake. As Pam cuts the cake, Dominic, Don, Tom, Robbi Haines, Rex Shriver, Jerry Bell and Kitty wait patiently.
Kitty explaning something as most everyone has their eyes on Pam and the cake. After supper we finished the repair to the two mainline tracks at Hemlock and our track is ready for operation.
