4.01.07 Work Session

When I arrived for this Sunday work session I saw the lumber for our new car storage building had been delivered and the Park had replaced the old fence. The lumber as delivered.
The new pole barn is really needed as the club is growing and storage space is at a premium at present. The site of the new structure is staked out just behind the Switch Shop.
The Park Service had several large trees that were at the end of our yard tracks cut down. Edith Hacker looks over the mess from the felled trees.
A view from the end of the yard toward the new structure location. One of the trees that was cut down landed on our siding track bending the rails which we will have to fix.
We will have a new spur going to the new building through this right-a-way. George Woodling and Dick Clark are removing tie clips and the rail for the second crossover for the rerouted Branch Line.
Dick is checking the fit of the cut rail against the crossing. These are the two crossings we made at Hosemaster earlier this year. Dick marking the track section to be cut.
The new crossing at the yard track just needs to be fastened into the existing rail. Next we have to cut the rails to tie the two crossings together.
George is fastening the rail to the ties while waiting for Dick to cut the steel rail. It started to rain but we worked right through it.
Bill and George work adding ties and fastening the rails down. The crossings are joined together with rail and the ties have been added and the rail fastened down.
Two views of the crossings at the end of the yard just needing to be ballasted and leveled.
