4.09.08 Work Session

Woodpeckers are working over two trees by our station for the bugs that have infested them. The woodpeckers have really made deep holes into the trees to get the bugs.
In our new storage building we had installed a motorized steel rollup door for safety. Dave Foster and Wally Pausch are measuring for the location of our new car storage rack supports.
This year marks our 25th Anniversary with our track and trains in Lake Metroparks Penitentiary Glen Reservation. The Park had a banner made for us and hung it up by our steaming bays.
The crew worked loading the train from our ballast stone pile. We won't let Dick Clark run the work engine so he has to rely on "poling" a car, which has been outlawed on the real railroads for a good many years.
Marty Pinkston, Rick Nagy and Ken Brooks have finished loading the trainload of buckets with stone. The crew is adding ballast to the track where needed because of the frost that heaved the track up in some places.
Marty, Lew Fowler, Ken and Joe Banzer spreading the ballast at Pandora reverse track. Back at our water tower Edith Hacker was cleaning out the leaves and ashes from our ash pit.
A view of the inside of our storage shed after we cleaned up all the small pieces of building material that was stored in it during construction. Mother Nature effected us with another spectacle after high winds went through the area.
Pam Znidar provided the birthday cake Kitty Shriver and Yes, all those named on the cake are one in the same. Kitty coming out of the station with Robbi Haines behind her.
Pam explaining to Kitty about the cake decorations as Kitty samples the frosting. The members that were at the work session eagerly awaiting for Kitty to cut the cake.
Kitty starting to cut her birthday cake with hubby Rex behind her. Picture of Kitty at being surprised with having a cake. These two photos provided by Pam Znidar.
