First Club Run of the season - 4/14/2012

It turned out to be a cool day for our run but Chris and Dena Cooper showed up running their boxcab engine that Chris scratch built for his train. Ken Brooks has come back from a run and is backing into one of the sidings at the end of our station so he can stretch his legs.
Ken with members Marty Pinkston, Dave Foster, Rick Nagy, Judy Oscker and Richard Sales behind him by the fire pit and beyond. Paul Zorko with his newly acquired Morris engine that he had painted flaming red, with his grandson Ryan, and Paul's son Tony with Maddie and Anna Zorko behind him on the train.
Chris and Dena pass through the station double heading with their engines that were both scratch-built using the same chassis just a different cab. Mark Reigle brought this newly built rendition of a galloping goose that he built in only three weeks out of material he had lying around for the most part.
Tony and Maddie are given a ride with Ryan as engineer and Grandpa Paul overseeing the operations as they run on the Orchard Loop behind the station. Ryan is in his glory running the engine and he may even let his grandpa Paul run it again someday.
A view of the whole train with all the happy riders as they approach the station. Eastbound out on the Main line with the club's GP 38 is Josh Frank with Mike Harkleroad riding behind as they approach the station.
As they wait for traffic ahead to clear they talk with Edith Hacker. Caught Mark as he takes his electric powered car down the track on Short which will eventually put him on the winding Branch Line.
We had a couple of guests visit us today, this one is Don Johnson and he is unloading his train from the trailer with the help of Dave Foster and another guest. Dave moving Don's engine on the lift to align it with the track.
Another guest was Hal Seiler who brought his equipment with its custom covers on a trailer and Hal is on the left side with Dave helping on the right. Hal has two speeders and a scratch built Galloping Goose that the covers are being removed from.
The speeders are on the lift and the Galloping Goose is being rolled out onto it from the trailer. On the switch leading to the ballast pile Chris stopped so that Dick Clark can bord the train as Ken passes by Eastbound behind them on the mainline.
While watching from my vantage point, Mike Harkleroad comes by with the club's GP 38 and a small load of passengers. Skip Frank, far right, has brought his new boiler for his engine "Lynn" in to be pressure tested with Kevin, Linda and Roy Harris checking things out as Skip watches.
A view looking at the pump with gauge and a hose going to the boiler for the pressure test with water to see if it holds without leaking. Roy is screwing in the safety valves in the steam dome to check the popoff pressure they lift at.
Richard Sales brought his train and has it parked in front of Marty Pinkston's train on a siding by the station. Marty said he changed the drive configuration and had the rotate the engine 90° so this is the new layout and you can see everything is wet from the rain.
Dave Foster with the GP 38 arriving at the station with an almost full complement of passengers in the light rain that is falling. Chris as he approaches Drudgery on the mainline will soon approach Hemlock and have to acquire a signal to continue on to Hilton and points West.
Mark as he heads into the yard to put his engine away since we have this rain that is on-again off-again. There are other engines that are sitting in the yard and maybe they'll be put away too.
Don Johnson running his engine with passengers as he heads eastbound towards the station from Hemlock. Marty with his train with Richard following along behind him as they both head for Horrendous and points west.
Hal running his speeders as he passes over the Park access road crossing on his way to Horrendous with his passenger. Marty at the station checking out the shift linkage on his engine. Yeah Marty, when you jiggle that doficky it makes the train go back and forth.
