Rublic Run - Earth Day

Tom Pappas and Dick Clark prepare their engines for the public run prior to making them up in a train. Skip Frank with grandson Josh behind him pulling out of the station.
Jon Jaros was at the track with his Northern running the chassis on air on the track behind the station. The line of riders waiting for the trains to start running at one o'clock.
Dick Clark coming into the station with a load of passengers. Ken Filak dressed for the occasion as conductor on Dicks' train looking very dappper.
Skip coasting into the station with his charge of passengers. Since we were light on engineers, Bill Deptowicz the club photographer was pressed into engineering duty with Park engine.
Ted Nyland beginning his run with his passengers astride his inter-urbans. Tom Pappas has received the "All Aboard" from Roy Harris, our faithful loader, and is just starting to move out.
Mike Uhrich with his scratch-built boxcab leaving the station. Robbi Haines watching over the loading of Franks and Dicks' train with Roy in red shirt.
Dicks' train is all loaded and cleared for his trip around the track. Don Atkins and Skip move their engines up to the loading zone from the passenger disembarking area.
George Metts watches as Roy gives instructions to the riders of Dons' train. Bill leaving the station with Frank Russell as conductor on the last riding car.
Dave Foster with his pair of speeders and thats Lou DeLembo as conductor on the adjacent train in the background. Skip tends to the fire in his engine at the station while waiting to load as Kevin and Roy Harris load Pauls' train.
Robbi is holding our newest signed up member, Ethan Deptowicz my grandson, as we load..you can never start too early. Frank nudges the throttle on "East Wind" and the Pacific starts moving.
Who said diesels don't smoke as Dick and Kens engines idle at the station. Actually Frank just pulled away with his Pacific steamer. Ken all loaded and rolling away from the station. Goodness...no smoke.
The big kids as well as the little ones enjoy the thrill of a train ride and the waiting for the ride is worth it as expressed in their faces after they board the trains.
A view of the line from the station showing that it extends nearly to the Ranger station. Roy loading a family onto Kens' Reading train which is electric powered.
Paul Emch with his Nickle Plate loco at the station and George Davidson as train conductor on the next track. Skips' bobber caboose for his P.D.C.R.R. brings up the rear of his train.
Passengers departing the station behind Frank and his Pacific steamer. Ted Nyland as conductor on Dicks' train watches as Ken starts off on another run with his passengers.
Paul Emch had the newest Nickle Plate Caboose to our track which now totals three. A Harris father and sons picture with Kevin(purple cap), Brett(black cap) with Roy(red cap) giving instructions to Jerry Bells' passengers.
Ever wonder what Skip's blue painted boiler would look in graphite gray? Ken just passing Thorn behind the station with his trainload of passengers.
Don behind the station with his passengers and engine highlighted in red with a monochrome picture. Pauls caboose but the reflected light plays tricks on the colors for the camera.
George Metts at the controls of Mikes' boxcab and Mike doesn't even looked scared. Skip with his engine, which does have a blue boiler, is pulling into the station.
At High Creek we were able to show this baby raccoon which we think fell out of a tree. Looking at the sway-back stock car and NKP caboose suggests that we have come to the end of the run for today.
Photo credits for most of the above pictures go to my son John Deptowicz as I was running a engine.
