Work Session - 5/06/09

The pile of ties that Karl Losely dropped off from our tie cutting party which today we will start adding the clips for aluminum rail. Dave Foster and George Woodling man the clip press as Frank Foti and Rick Nagy watch for awhile.
George and Ken added the switch to the main line that will be the access to the new yard yesterday. A view looking toward the right-a-way, bearing right, that will eventually run to the new storage building.
Frank is drilling the holes in the aluminum rail for the rail joiners. Ted Nyland is going to start working on another switch and Ken is holding the rail as Frank drills the holes at his end.
Rick is elongating the holes with a hand drill so the rail will be able to move with expansion and contraction with the temperature. The progress Ken, Rick and Frank made after a couple of hours.
The guys are doing a fine job of getting the track down as Frank surveys the progress. They have about sixty feet of track down on the ground which will just need to be ballasted and leveled.
A view looking down towards the main line at the progress they have made. George is operating the air press as Dave adds the tie clips upside down in the jig with Wally Pausch moving and stacking the ties in the storage area and it's starting to rain.
Ron Trenhaile, Lew Fowler help Dave and Ken cover the press to protect it from the rain. Wally stacked the ties on the right hand side that were done today and are ready for laying rail.
Wally started these two stacks of ties also so we had a really good day progress wise.
