Public Run – 5/06/2012

The trains to carry the public are beginning to line up at the station as George Metts, Paul Emch, Ted Nyland and John Koontz wait for the one o'clock start of the rides. The first one to depart the station with the riding public is Ted Nyland with his pair of electric powered interurban's.
Paul Emch departing the station with Paul Zorko's train and a full load of passengers with Lou Fowler as his conductor. We had company today as you can see a 5 foot long rat snake crossing the track by the steaming bays and heading for the line of people waiting for their turn to ride the trains.
Marty Pinkston walked over and picked up the snake and proceeded to take it to the line of waiting riders so the kids would have a chance to touch a snake. Rick Nagy at the beginning of his run with the GP38 and a full complement of passengers starts down the mainline with Lou DeLembo as his conductor.
Jann Glove of the Park system took the snake for a walk and released it by the top of the gorge at the far end of our area of track. Frank Foti with East Wind making volumes of exhaust smoke at the beginning of his run has just passed the switch heading towards the photographer who is standing on the Short Line.
Ken Brooks with his electric powered Steeple cab has just passed through Zip Junction and will soon be rumbling over Cider Bridge on his way back to the station. Paul Zorko just emerging from the Truss Bridge will soon take the grade crossing for the Park access road.
Paul at the controls of his Nickel Plate switcher as he approaches the Truss Bridge after having passed through Fern. Marty passing by the railroad cars set out on Fern siding as he heads for the Truss Bridge with his passenger.
Richard sales with his train as he passes by the cars in the same location as he heads west will soon take the grade at Mackey's Run and cross the Big Bend Bridge. A view of Ken with his train taken from the opposite side of the railroad cars on the siding.
Rick coming down the long grade from Hilton has passed through Gulch, Hilde Hill and over Bridge #6 and is at Fern. A better view of bridge #6 as Ted crosses over it with his interurban's and his passengers as he heads for Fern.
A telephoto shot of Paul Zorko with his switcher as he comes down the grade and is near Hilde Hill. Paul Emch with his NKP switcher has just passed Hilton on his way down the long grade to Fern.
Rick with his train as he approaches Big Wash Bridge after having passed through Hemlock. Caught Marty in the lens at the Park access road grade crossing on his way to Horrendous.
Back at the station I caught Mike Harkleroad near the beginning of this run at the controls of Richard's train. Following Mike out of the station, Jerry Bell is at the controls of the club's GP38 with a full load of passengers as the train gains speed.
Ted departing the station with a light load for his run this time around as Ken with his train in the background wait to be loaded with passengers. Ken departs the station with his passengers as Tom Pappas pulls up to the loading area with his train.
East Wind with a billowing sooty smoke and the bark of its exhaust as the engine works to move its trainload of passengers. Richard, back at the controls of his engine, is departing the station with his passengers.
A close-up of Richard's passengers as they pass by the photographer at the start of a 10 min. entertaining ride. Robbie Haines, with her back to us at the loading area, was heading the task of loading the trains with passengers and you can see we had a short line today.
Jerry Bell back at the station with the GP38 as he watches the passengers disembark from his train with the guidance of Anna Zorko in the white top. A view from the station as the GP 38 departs and Ted waits for his interurban's to be loaded.
Paul is all smiles as he leaves the station on his next run with his newly acquired engine. Must be a steamer up at the station by the haze displayed as Ken Vendlinger starts to gain speed with his train on the mainline.
There's that smoker, its East Wind getting rid of the mosquitoes in the area as Robby finishes loading Paul's train. Pauls all smiles now that he's going to get some fresh air as he heads to points west departing the station.
Ted about to pass through the switch that if thrown would take you to the Short Line. Frank with East Wind emerging from the covered bridge on this beautiful day.
Alex Mahoney emerges form the Covered Bridge on his way to Zip Junction and Horrendous with the electric switcher. Dick Clark at the controls of the GP38 as he emerges from the tunnel with his long train of passengers.
Robbie talks to a few remaining passengers as Frank's train departs the station with a light load. Caught Ted Nyland as he passes through the loading area with his interurban's as there are no longer any public passengers to load for today's run.
