Work Session - 5/09/2012

George Metts looking over the weatherproof box that he has to cut holes in to mount to the existing boxes near the ground. Bill Deptowicz removed a cover plate that was up near the top of the post for the railroad signal light and drilled it for this cable fitting.
A view into the bottom of the signal light at the terminals that we have to connect our power lines to that will pass through the fitting on the left of the housing. John Koontz, Rick Nagy and Hal Seiler work on a switch mechanism in front of the steaming bay.
Out behind the station Steve's Zaken was using the push mower and cutting the grass alongside of the track. Wayne Boron had the pump housing for the yellow engine in a vice and was trying to cut off a portion the flange to reduce the size for some needed clearance.
Anna Zorko and Edith Hacker were picking up the the twigs and small branches that had fallen from the trees to clean up the area and were burning them in the fire ring. While all this was going on Ken Vendlinger was using the riding mower to cut the grass behind the station.
George shown here stripping the outer jacket off the cable in preparation for pulling it through the signal mast pipe and that's Paul Zorko behind him. Ken has finished cutting the portion of grass that he uses the riding mower for and now is using the weed whip around the steaming bays.
Paul is up on the ladder and getting ready to pull the wire through the fitting that he has his thumb in which will get the wire into the signal box. Paul holds the wire as Ken feeds it into the conduit which will bring the wire into the control box with the power supply and the radio control receiver.
This is our foreman looking over the progress of the work that's been done so far....... Of course it's George. In checking out the progress that the engine maintenance crew were making on the Park engine I found they had the pump mounted and you can see how they modified the mount to clear the exhaust pipe from the motor.
This view shows us how they cut away part of the pump mount to clear the exhaust for the engine. A view from overhead looking down on the exhaust pipe and you can see where the clearance was needed so the exhaust pipe from the engine could be wrapped with insulation.
