Work Session - 5/18/2011

Dick Clark looks at me as though to say," No, you're not going to take my picture, no, you're not going to take my picture -- dang it, he took my picture!" Today we were cleaning the drains under and around the track as Steve Zaken, Dick Clark and Rick Nagy toil at the task.
Dick put vinyl lettering on our Lionel Bridge that George Davidson (deceased), built and he noted it as Geo. Davidson Bridge Works. Steve standing in the center of the Lionel Bridge, which if you ever get a chance to see, has a third rail down the center. . . .power pickup?
Dick and Steve take a break as Rick continues to clean out from under the bridge on the Branch Line near High Creek. All these early spring rains have really brought the leaves down grade to plug up the culvert pipes under the track..
Steve and Dick work to remove the debris at the high end of the culvert near Hilton on the Main Line. Steve watches as Dick reaches out to rake the leaves and debris off to the side at the bottom of the hill at Fern.
Frank Foti came out today and was adding five new relays to the switch panel to tie in the track signal for the yard lead behind the Stanek Barn to where it merges with the Main Line. Paul Zorko cleaning a ditch between High Creek and Hilton to remove the leaves so water can flow.
Rick working at Hemlock, clearing the ditch by the fallen tree and it looks like its going to rain any minute. Frank set up a canopy to protect the electronics in the switch gear panel to add the relays and wire them.
Frank studying the schematic before wiring in the five new relays to add the signal for the yard lead from the Stanek Barn. Dick working in a drainage ditch alongside the Main Line just down from Filmore.
John Koontz and Ted Nyland work on making another No. 7 switch in the Switch Shed protected from the rain. Joe Banzer doing his "favorite" thing -- working on the Park Engine, as he is our designated engine technician.
Ted helping Joe put the cover back on the Park Engine. Edith Hacker trying to straighten out the rails ............. not really, a telephoto lens on a camera shows how straight the track really is.
Dick running the work engine, heading for the gravel pile for another load of ballast. Lew Fowler, Wally Pausch, Dick and Rick adding ballast and leveling the track approach to the Big Bend Bridge.
